Network experiences and surveys indicated the lack of comprehensive language and cultural training material on the vocational level for students in Leonardo da Vinci exchange programmes. The project “Ready-Study-Go!” will plan and design a virtual e-learning system that will provide information about linguistic and cultural preparations before placement and before receiving on-the-job learners. The idea is that well developed training on specific language and intercultural issues help the learners to adapt into the local culture and work life which increases his or her performance. The project is oriented towards language teachers, trainers, coordinators, vocational trainers, specialists and students in the restaurant and hotel services, tourism and bakery. Other users and beneficiaries can be identified as on-the-job training coaches who receive learners from abroad and all professionals moving borders within the European Union and in need of language and intercultural coaching. Specific outcomes of the project within the framework of the online language and cultural coaching are written and oral exercises combining professional and general vocabulary with cultural coaching and information of the work culture. Exercises will be developed using the CLIL teaching methodology: work based approach an in cooperation with language trainers and vocational teachers. Also the learning environment will contain learning modules, communication modules and modules for the coordination of learning. Additionally specific guidebooks and manuals will be produced in 6 languages. For valorisation of the project results a detailed exploitation plan is established including the close involvement of sector-specific networks (management groups and advisory committees) and information spread through a website and local workshops.
