Ready for Life 2
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Ready for Life 2 is a project carried out by Alliance Youth Exchanges to support the secondary level vocational education graduates’ professional skills, employability, international mobility and personal development. The project follows on the footsteps of Ready for Life meeting the needs of young people even better. The aim of the project is to offer internship opportunities for recent graduates as limited work experience can often be an obstacle for the employment of young people after graduation and even cause exclusion and unemployment in the long run. For those interested in entrepreneurship, the project provides opportunities to do an internship with emphasis on it. The project aims to provide international mobility opportunities especially for those recent graduates who have not previously had the opportunity for it. The project also aims to support the learning of modern European languages. The project provides 38 young adults an opportunity for 4 to 12 week long period abroad either in Spain, Germany, Ireland or Italy. The mobility period will be a combination of work, linguistic and cultural learning. The internship placements are found based on the applicants’ preferences and educational background. Participants will be sent abroad either individually or in small groups. The project will be carried out between 2015 and 2017. Participants need to be 18 to 35-year-olds and graduated from secondary vocational education within one year. Sufficient skills in English or the language of the host country are required. In participant selection the emphasis is given on the applicants’ background and previous experience abroad. Priority is given to applicants with no previous international experience or opportunities for it in the near future or to those who are unemployed or at risk of exclusion. Allianssi Youth Exchanges will select the participants and organize necessary training before the departure. Allianssi Youth Exchanges will also participate in travel arrangements and will support participants throughout their stay abroad. After the mobility period, Allianssi Youth Exchanges will instruct and support participants in their final reporting and will carry out an overall assessment of the project. Allianssi Youth Exchanges will also conduct a follow-up survey for the participants with in a year after the mobility period and spread the results of the project to other young people and other relevant stakeholders. The responsibility of the host organizations is to find the internship placements for the participants, do the accommodation arrangements, organize linguistic and cultural training and provide support services and follow-up throughout the mobility period. Additionally, the host organizations will also act as contact persons to the internship placements and participate in the final evaluation. The internship companies will name a contact person who will be responsible for the internship, instructing the participants and evaluating the work. Each participant will set individual goals for themselves before departure. They will keep a learning diary or a blog during their stay abroad and evaluate the implementation of their goals and participate in the final evaluation. After returning to Finland, the participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences by visiting schools and fair. They can also participate training sessions for new participants and act as mentors. The project will primarily boost the employability of the participants and develop their professional skills. It will also support a seamless transition to the working life. The entrepreneurial program will offer participants new ideas, viewpoints and competencies to start their own companies in Finland. Social empowerment as well as the development of language skills and intercultural competences are the non-formal and informal outcomes of the project. These outcomes have a lasting effect on the participants’ development on becoming active citizens. Developing language skills by using the foreign language actively in everyday life during the practical training will also increase participants’ professional options in the future and offer them new job opportunities both in Finland and abroad. International learning experiences will also help young people in finding their cultural identity and in developing their intercultural understanding. In the long run the project aims to meet the changing needs and requirements of the domestic labor market. It also aims to provide vocational education new tools and opportunities to become more international. At the European level the project aims to strengthen the European identity among all the stakeholders of the project. Working in an intercultural environment will increase all stakeholders’ intercultural knowledge and understanding.
