Below average results of literacy in the PISA project in Croatia show that our school's learners have difficulties in problem solving exercises, despite of average technical conditions and qualified and motivated staff. It is noticed that our learners have problems applying acquired knowledge, especially when doing creative problem-solving tasks. On the other side, the greatest importance in learning is given mostly to the numerical grade, not only by students (in order to attend better secondary schools), but also by teachers ( in order to get necessary points for professional development). Although our school encourages the use of new methods that stimulate creativity, it is not the process which is emphasised but the final (numerical) result. Our school needs to educate teachers to use new techniques and skills that would motivate new generations of learners and teachers and that would help not only with aquiring new knowledges but also with learning how to think creatively, how to search for creative solutions for artistic creations and how to think of ideas for solving different kinds of problem situations.
With our project «Development of creative learning, thinking, acting and creating», we would develop a constructive strategy for creative development. The six participants of the project are elected taking into consideration the importance of approaching the topic from different perspectives: a primary school teacher, a secondary school teacher, a class master, a school libriarian, a school psychologist and an afternoon assistant teacher. The teachers decide on the course they would like to attend in order to receive multicultural and professional education, individual contacts, and finally, the exchange of ideas and experiences. The preparation is supposed to be strategic and conceptualized. Moreover, it comprises all the organizational, cultural and language preparations.
Special attention is given to types of training and its connection with the activities which are going to be done after our education abroad. Seminars are going to enable experience exchange between participants and cooperation on an international level. We expect to enhance our conversation and presentation skills; attract interest in problem communities and multiculturalism; better our creative thinking on personal and professional level; to educate teachers for using innovative methods in problem solving and other tasks through creative thinking in everyday classes, creative workshops, projects, parents meetings and with individual conversations with parents and children. Seminars will help acquire insight into new technology trends and creative usage of ICT. We also expect from the seminars extra education in creative fields, enriched with different experiences and greater work motivation. Possibility of business connections on intercultural level, connecting with future partners, creating new professional and personal friendships and permanent communication and sharing ideas and information in creative and educational field and more. After the trainings have finished we plan to conduct these activities as follows; we plan to form “a Team For Creative Development “, in which we will conduct the application of acquired knowledge in children and teacher education, presentations of individual seminars on our expert meetings, organizing seminars for teachers to share knowledge of new creative methods, organizing several creative workshops with target group of children needed for our evaluation of the project before and after implementing new creative methods, writing articles about the whole project for an expert magazine, making a permanent paper document about the project for promotion purposes, connecting with similar civil groups and institutions which deal in development of creativity. Competences acquired on seminars would be used in working with children and sharing experience with other teachers. The «Team For Creative Development» would work in different activities and popularize modern approaches and facilitate future generations so they could deal with complex problem situations in school and everyday life. Our team would be competent enough to take care about quality program of working with children, innovations in educational fields and to share knowledge to all school personnel and students. The project would be evaluated on the sample of the aimed group (students who would take part in creativity workshops) by simulating the specific problem-solving tasks and situations in a specific period of time. The workshops would be lead by the project participants who would apply the new creative methods they learned about at their courses; the evaluator would assess the impact of these methods on the motivation for problem solving tasks and final learning outcome, decision making and creativity.
