Rainwater pipeline establishment in Sacueni and joint hydrologic survey in order to improve water quality of the Ier river (E2R)

The main objective of the project is to strengthen environmental susteinability and the quality of life in the target area by improving environment and reducing pollution risk in the ler basin.The project proposes the construction of 6545 m of new surfaced road on the dykes, renovating 10 pcs of guard houses and 2 earth dams. The project contributes to the solution of one of the most serious environmental problems identified in the programme area, namely cross border pollution of the rivers in the target area, by having a clear contribution to the water quality improvement of the Ier river the project will improving the natural environment of the target area and the environmental sustainability of the cross border region.The main activities of the project are: hydrologic analysis of the Ier river sub-basin (data collection, data analysis, complementary measurements, formulating specific water management measures, preparing a recommendation for competent institutions and decision-makers) and rainwater pipeline system establishment in Săcueni (technical planning and authorization, construction works, technical hand-over take-over).The main target groups and direct beneficiaries of the project are represented by the local population of Diosig, Roşiori, Săcueni, Létavértes and Pocsaj, a total number of 34108 persons, out of which 51,05% women and 48,95% men, residents of both urban and rural settlements of the target area. Additionally, a large variety of specific target groups will benefit from the project results, including: - local businesses of the target area (Diosig, Roşiori and Săcueni on the Romanian side the border, Létavértes and Pocsaj in the Hungarian side of the border), 513 units,- the Roma communities living in the catchment area of Ier river in Săcueni, approximately 300 families, 1200 persons, permanently affected by increasing frequency of floods;- the project partners, 3 institutions, - relevant institutions and decision makers competent in the field of water management form both sides of the border, beneficiaries of the hydrological analysis of Ier river and of the experts’ recommendation for decision makers, including 2 ministries and 4 water management institutions.
