QUAMANCEEC - Quality Management Network for Central and East European Countries

Arising from the establishment of a Food Quality Management Network in Eastern European, as part of a recent PHARE project, the QUAMANCEEC project will establish a network of Vocational Education and Training Centres (VETCs) on Food Quality and Safety. Project partners will design and introduce a range of Quality Management education, training and information tools, which the VETCs will then pilot with large and small companies at all levels in the food industry. By developing a collaborative approach to enhancing training opportunities in this field, the network should accelerate the process of implementation, validation and accreditation of QMS (Quality Management Systems) in the food industry in Central and East European Countries. Immediate added-value, will be presented through the identification of best practice and benchmarks in addition to the operation of a series of workshops and training courses by the project. End products will include a best practice manual, a series of reference materials and an information database on hazards. Beyond the project, the VETCs will continue to exist as hubs for the exchange of experience, the provision of information on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) certification and QMS-related training and potentially for related consultancy. All end publications are to be made available via the project website. Partners will further produce information on project results in national languages and will distribute this to food industry bodies and to research institutes, universities and the general public. A cycle of additional workshops will establish contacts between small and large companies and other key local actors.
