Quality signet for modular VET for disadvantaged young people

The project's objective is to find high-quality ways of improving theintegration of socially disadvantaged youth as a target group intoeducational systems and labour markets. Failure to provide young peoplewith vocational training opportunities means greatly restricting theirparticipation in society and isolating them socially. Specially structuredtraining courses, special learning programmes (forms of work-orientedlearning and concepts of linking work and learning) and intensive supportand individual promotion are needed to change this. Modules forinstance, can be used as intermediate steps in a course of training, whose mastery can be an important motivational factor for young people.Certification and recognition of such modules, taking into accountinformal learning results within the framework of a recognised form oftraining, are decisive for the success of such a modular approach. Theproject will determine usable knowledge about quality standards ofvocational training of disadvantaged young people in a number ofEuropean countries and investigate if or to what extent such standardsare applied and how they can be further developed. The final product willbe a common recommendation for action for drawing up a "EuropeanSignet of Quality" for vocational training of socially disadvantaged youngpeople and a description of the principal features of accreditationinstitutions that award such a signet. The recommendations will begenerated in English, short versions will be published in all partners`languages. The Project will have an impact on the range of VETopportunities for socially disadvantaged youth through the developmentand introduction of Quality standards and Quality assurance instruments. This should lead on the long run to an improvement of VET offers for thetarget group, raising rates in successfully achieved training qualificationand thus a better participation in society
