Quality Assurance and Certification Procedures in the Higher Education System of Tunisia

Developing and implementing a system for QA and Certification in Tunisia for applied languages (English, French German, and Italian), and engineering, including- identification of the requirements for certification - development of specific criteria for certification - development of teaching programs provided in the framework of structured certificates in ECTS in close collaboration with the socio-economic organizations- founding of a center and four service points for QA and Certification - organization of training for trainers- management of training, issuing of certification and services for the trainees- provide logistical material means that can ensure the sustainability and durability of its activities- delivery of certificates in the fields concerned The project will enable the Partner universities to educate engineers und specialists in applied languages ( e.g. enterprise communication) according to standards which are compatible to the standards within the EU.The center for certification is designed and set up as model of reference; the main focus is on the one hand appplied Language Studies (including intercultural aspects) and on the other hand engineering sciences. These examples might serve as best practice for an overall concept of certification in Tunisia and other HE systems in Northern Africa, however, from the beginning, the project aims at the integration of further subjects. The project creates a structural connection between the systems of higher education in Tunisia and the EU, and is geared to the key points of the Bologna Process in the EU. With that, it makes an important contribution to the modernization of the Tunisian system of higher education and the quality management as stated in the EU-Agenda on Modernizing Universities. Tunisian students will be integrated in the development of those structures, special consideration will be given to the interests of female students.
