European Commission at Making a European Area of Lifelong Learning a Reality (Brussels, 21.11.2001 COM 2001 678 final) among others states: Emphasis is placed on movement from 'knowledge' to 'competence' and from teaching to learning, placing the learner at the center. Such a shift implies that people "learn how to learn". Learners should, to the extent this is possible, actively seek to acquire and develop knowledge and skills. Different methods are required, depending on the situation of the learner, the learning coefficient and frame.
We therefore have a new understanding by European bodies, in which is dominated the need for change in the role of learners and instructors. At the same time is expressed the need to apply new teaching methods and practices, and are promoted the concepts of inclusive education and learning through the act, while openly are challenged the traditional educational practices, as are the teacher-centered nature of education and the intellectualist orientation.
In the study “Key Competences for adult learning professionals” (DG EAC/ B3542 – 2010), were identified common key competences for educators, among others were listed; the competence in empowering the adult learners, being communicator – team player, and dealing with heterogeneity and diversity in groups. VET educators must be aware with what principles can tune a team, be able to identify the different roles and functions in a team, as well as, be able to effectively use techniques of empowerment and relationships management. Within this context, is introduced the concept of experiential learning and psychodrama in education, which is the opposite of traditional pedagogical experiences. Adult educators today are increasingly hear the terms "experiential learning" and "psychodrama” in educational methods.
To address these issues, project consortium will create a training seminar for 24 VET educators on experiential teaching methods. The proposed training seminar contributes to the development of the further training of VET educators, and the development of the VET knowledge sector, as it will introduce new teaching methods in the field. The seminar addresses the constantly changing educational aspects of VET sector through its emphasis on lifelong learning. The training program is specialized for the VET educators, based on international experiences and will support the development and recognition of trainers knowledge, skills and competencies, subjects that are crucial for the development of individuals, educational sector and social cohesion.
Eventually, the training seminar addresses the needs of the target group with regard to methodological aspects. It will do so by taking into account the needs of VET trainees and creating appropriate conditions for learning. Thus it will help to transform and modernize the existing European Education and Training System in the sector. The proposed training seminar will ensure equality of VET educators skills by providing transparency of qualifications and competencies. By creating a better educated VET trainers it will also restrain the drop outs of VET trainees from educational processes and increase active participation in VET classes.
