IES Emili Darder, located in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), is a VET school that offers a degree in Microcomputer Systems and Networking. After gaining some experience in transnational mobilities participating in the Leonardo da Vinci IVT and VetPro programs, by being part of the Consortia constituted by the Balearic Department of Education and the VET schools of the Island, we have now decided to ask for an Erasmus + grant on our own, in order to address more specifically the needs of our teachers and students, especially in the fields of languages, curricular contents and instruction quality. This is a crucial moment for us because a new education law will require all the VET schools of our region to teach one third of the classes in English starting in school year 2015/16. Participants of this project are 7 students enrolled in second year of our degree in Microcomputer Systems and Networking, that will do part of their mandatory apprenticeship either in the UK or in Malta, and 4 teachers that will participate in a job shadowing training period in a VET institution in the UK. Our school has been granted the ISO 9001 certificate. We will use then the quality procedure that is part of our quality management system to prepare, develop and evaluate the Erasmus + mobilities. We expect that the diffusion of our results encourages other VET schools of the region to participate in the Erasmus + program. We would also like our school to participate in the near future in more European projects, even for other sectors, in order to internationalize our school, our staff and our students, and in order to improve the quality of our curriculums.
