Institut Jaume Mimó is a public school teaching compulsory education, bachelleratoa and vocational training (BETC3 and BTEC5).There are 696 students in morning and afternoon shifts. At all levels of education students pursue English and French as a foreign language being one of themain subjects necessary for their future work. The Strategic Plan of the school promotes the realization of a project aiming to improve the English language skills of the students in secondary education, integrated in the CLIL (Integrated Content and Language Learning) which has started to be developed so far. The strategic action of the project is to improve teachers' language skills and to innovate their teaching methods to develop the CLIL strategies. Our school has reached an agreement with a European training centre ADC College, specialized in languages, located in northwoest of London, accredited by the British Council for its educational quality of English. This centre offers a wide experience in structured corses for different aims and especially for mobility projects associated with other European educational institutions.Requirements have been established for hiring teachers to access to the project, prioritzing those teachers who have started the teaching practice of their curriculum in the English language and have made a commitment with the organization of continuing teaching the subject in the English language during 2017/2018 and the two subsequent academic years. Another important element is to sign an agreeement with the organization to revise and improve the teaching methodology implementing strategies gained in this mobility project. The methodology of the project is a training course in the CLIL method, with the aim of providing the teaching staff with tools and strategies to create an effective methodology and curriculum to teach English in different subjects. Teachers commited to the project will develope new materials and methods for the teaching and learning in the CLIL methodology and the use of programs and updated resources.During the course 2017/2018 the teacher participating in the project will teach their subject in English. The expected impact of this action provides a quantitative improvement in the results of basic skills in the English language of each group of students and in all the levels at school. The qualitative improvement of students and teachers will reflect in the English language skills. These impacts will be assessed through monitoring systems and external tests that already exist in our organization. We hope this project promotes other goals, such as improving student's motivation for academic success and reduce the student's dropout in the future. We are looking forward to having a great impact in the participation of the educational community as a consequence of improving the langauge skills and promote intercultural relationships among different countries int eh European Union.
