Greece is undergoing an economic crisis with a strong growth in unemployment rate. The problem is even bigger for vulnerable groups, such as immigrants and people with special needs, who face unemployment and social exclusion. One way to overcome the existing situation at national level is to invest on education. Education and training policy should enable all citizens irrespective of their personal, social or economic circumstances, to acquire, update and develop over a lifetime job-specific skills and the key competences needed for their employability. Therefore the main objective of the project is to support the establishment and implementation of coherent and comprehensive Lifelong Learning (LL) strategies and policies at national level specifically addressed to vulnerable groups. A particular focus will be put on the social inclusion dimension of LL strategies. To achieve these objectives partners will establish 3 LL Offices at 3 major Greek cities which will be responsible to provide information & consulting services to all organizations active in the field of LL and to independent individual members of vulnerable groups. Moreover, partners will organize awareness-raising events directly linked to the establishment and implementation of LL strategies. Additionally, public participation applications will be developed such as a forum & an online voting system in order to enlarge the actual influence of citizens in the process of establishing LL strategies. Partners will organize workshops for teachers/trainers and other educational staffs in order to enable them to provide personalized learning services and job specific skills to vulnerable groups. The impact of the project will be enlarged through the dissemination & exploitation activities. The project is expected to have long term sustainability due to the nature of the partners’ organizations activities and their extended network among vulnerable groups & organizations active in the field of LL.
