Promotion of European doctoral programmes in industrialised countries

The PromoDoc project focuses on the promotion of European higher education for doctoral candidates in third countries and particularly in targeted industrialised countries and territories. The consortium partners are CampusFrance, the Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst (DAAD), the Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education (NUFFIC), the British Council, the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc) and the Institute of International Education (IIE).The overall aims of the PromoDoc project are to:-Enhance the attractiveness of European higher education, particularly doctoral-level study;-Improve awareness of and knowledge about opportunities for doctoral study in Europe amongst students in third countries worldwide and especially in the targeted industrialised countries and territories; and-Facilitate access to European doctoral studies for doctoral candidates from third countries.These goals will be reached through the following main activities and outputs:-The development of information tools on doctoral-level study in Europe, including a website, a brochure and a video clip, for doctoral candidates and students from third countries;-The creation of a network of 25 ambassadors for the promotion of European doctoral study in the United States of America (USA) and Canada;-The participation in European higher education fairs in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan via a booth and presentations focusing on doctoral-level study in Europe;-The organisation of information days on doctoral study in Europe, recruitment appointments and institutional networking sessions in Japan and the Republic of Korea.Doctoral candidates and students from third countries around the world, notably from the selected industrialised countries (Canada, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and USA), are the main target group. European and third-country higher education institutions and research departments, units and laboratories will also benefit from the activities and outputs, as well as European and third-country societies in general, including European industry and businesses and potential employers in the third countries.The consortium members will use their overseas offices, local partners and contacts, databases, websites and networks throughout the world and in the target countries for the dissemination of the project results. The activities and outputs combining information tools and events will give a momentum to the promotion of European doctoral-level study and will be further exploited after the end of the funding period.
