The promotion of contemporary European literature within the collection “Prometheus” includes the publishing house Laguna's plan to publish a few titles within two years, through novels that would best demonstrate the Promethean spirit of Europe, as well as every aspect of life of the average European citizen, the most dominant being political, social and cultural. "Laguna" intends to share with its reading audience the most prominent literary successors of European cultural heritage and to promote European values in general by translating works of contemporary European writers and emphasize through literature that we all pass through similar difficulties and are connected through our common habits, traditions and human destinies. "Laguna" has decided to apply for Creative Europe 2015 literary translation grant with the following titles that fit the idea: “God is my Witness” by Makis Tsitas (Greece, EUPL winner), “Il desiderio di essere come tutti” by Francesco Piccolo (Italy), “A máquina de fazer espanhóis” by Valter Hugo Mãe (Portugal), “Es geht uns gut” by Arno Geiger (Austria) and “Cartea Şoaptelor” by Varujan Vosganian (Romania). The most prominent Serbian literary translators will be involved in this project, whereas "Laguna" plans to promote its collection through all media as a significant project supported by the EU in 2016-2017. Promotional strategy includes, set aside usual marketing activities, the participation with mentioned titles at several domestic and foreign literary festivals and book fairs and to compete for literary translation prizes in our country. "Laguna" is ready to continue with “Prometheus” edition after completion of the 2015 project, including at least one winner of EUPL each year.The entire project is conceived with a view to improving the dialogue between Europe and Serbia in a specific cultural moment of European history and unification of the continent.
