The Jean Boudou school, located in La Primaube, is characterized by bilingual teaching in French and Occitan, (a regional language)Most pupils in our school are accustomed and thus receptive to language learning. In addition, beginning in nursery school, licensed teachers teach English to all of our pupils. Our school project aims to improve oral language teaching and help develop an artistic and cultural course. In order to reach our objectives, the improvement of computer skills is of major importance. We wish to show our pupils that regional languages are also taught in other European countries. This is the case in Scotland, where bilingual schools are being developed to teach both English and Scottish Gaelic. A twelve-day stay in Edinburgh will allow our 3 teachers to improve their English, compare school systems, educational methods and resources, and discover Scottish culture. Through the e-twinning platform, we will set up a correspondence with a bilingual school in Scotland so that the pupils can share their culture and their countries’ heritage as well as improve their level in English by sharing videos, recordings, and sound books, etc. The A1 level of the European framework is required when entering middle school. We are also planning to set up a partnership with the town council of Luc/ La Primaube to support a twinning project with a Scottish town. The idea would be to involve not only the children but also the parents and the whole village in a common project based on a feeling of belonging to the European community. The same three teachers have also submitted three applications for new technology exchanges in the summer of 2017.In September 2016, the Luc/La Primaube town council will provide our school with best-performing computers and our objective will then be to improve our own skills in computer science, before delivering them to the pupils, in order to enable them to pass the “Brevet Internet et Informatique” (B2i), as well as help them enrich their e-twinning partnership. In short, we are planning to establish a long-lasting correspondence between European schools, open a school blog that will be visible not only in France but also in other European countries, and finally twin our village with a Scottish town. This project will add momentum to our work as teachers and help us give our school a European dimension in order to guide our students as they become the European citizens of tomorrow.
