Projekt 1: Resilienz als Querschnittsdimension im europäischen Vergleich Projekt 2: So nah und doch so anders - Pflege in Dänemark erleben

Project 1 The topic resilience (as an important personality feature) has become very important in early-childhood education, due to a changing society. We think, however, that it should not only be a matter of early-childhood education but a matter of life-long learning because of society's diversity. Therefore, the aim of this project is to expand the topic and to develop even more training units for students in vocational colleges for social work regarding different fields of work. In addition, the project supports the students' ability to deal with problems whch have been triggered by unemployment and its consequences, especially in Southern European countries. The students are supposed to apply what they have learned to situations in their Europe-wide internships and to evaluate and develop the content further. The project will be carried out in about eight European countries. Students from year one and two of the vocational college will take part. The activities will be introduced and prepared beforehand in theory in regard to the curriculum for social work at vocational colleges in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Within the project, students will be informed in class about the countries they will go to and the special fields of work in the facilities there. In the countries, students will be taken care of by qualified employees and teachers from the EHKS. There will be at least one visit from a teacher during the internship which will also be used for the exchange of ideas between students, teachers and leadership. Project 2 Young people, who – keeping in mind demographic change – have decided on the ever so important care giving profession, should be supported as much as possible, and optimally prepared for this vital profession. With the Mobility Project, a few young trainees (four TNs) should be given the special opportunity, in more professional and personal ways, to think outside the box. The TN deals exclusively with students with a B Level diploma and from a relatively weak social background. The chosen TN will be offered a possibility through this activity, which is equal to a one-time chance that would not be possible in a private and/or professional form. In the scope of the necessary practice assignments (within the training of the nationally certified care assistant), the TNs fulfill a five-week assignment in a neighboring country and very practical work in elderly in- and outpatient facilities. Previously learned nursing practice can be deepened and reflected upon under the new circumstances, and new learning experiences will be gained. With practical experience in the neighboring country of Denmark, the TNs can and should have a very high standard of care, a different self-understanding, and a different professionalism of care, but also experience a differently designed social or care system plus a real togetherness in care giving. All of this has a positive effect on German standards and habits in care facilities, gives positive suggestions for the future profession, and strongly motivates the few to reflect critically on their professional role. There are also ergonomics in the workplace, especially back friendly, health maintaining work, the use of lifters and self-evident use of tools, different care concepts, smaller care units, the personal togetherness with clients and professionals and focused work on an interdisciplinary team. The Mobility Project has overall positive effects on multiple levels: a. TNs improve their chances in the job market, in which they establish interest, flexibility, and openness b. This project is unique within the 16 training sites for nationally certified care assistance in the state Schleswig-Holstein. With this project, our school has a unique characteristic and improves the attractiveness of the training c. Even if only small, continuously stimulating ideas and thoughts, which are based on practical experience in DK, will be incorporated on-site in the establishments, and thus, a change of thinking will actually take place in some realms. Especially in regard to the use of aids, a positive change of thinking: “constant dripping wears the stone!”
