Project to promote a good quality career advisory service

The aim of the project is to establish a good quality career advisory service and put in place a true career guidance system which meets the requirements in this area: career guidance has, in fact, become an essential element of professional development. This system will involve, among other things, setting up a career advisory service. To achieve this, it will be necessary to clarify and define what the service is expected to provide and to develop theories and innovative reference practices using a methodological basis which brings together the elements comprising the various dimensions of career guidance. Hence, irrespective of who is providing or receiving the service, and irrespective of the nature of the service or the approach adopted, it should be possible to provide the service and develop a quality-based approach. The project will focus on defining a methodological basis for any career guidance project, developing innovative methodologies and devise a quality-based approach; all these methods will serve as tools for career guidance counsellors which will enable them to develop and standardise their procedures within a European area in which career guidance is a lifelong process. The actual products of the project will be a methodological guide on reference practices, a quality reference system, training modules, a report on pilot studies and a website containing resources for experts. This project is aimed at professionals in the career guidance field and at people in difficulty, such as young people without qualifications, women who have problems finding work, disabled workers, former members of the armed forces and the long-term unemployed.
