"Today, a grammar school has to provide answers to the challenges of our time and has to assist the young people to turn into ??? people. This is only possible in a environment of curiosity, openness, diversity and tolerance " said Dr. Ludwig Spaenle - Bavaria's minister of education. It is therefore of paramount importance that the school meets the challenges of a modern working-, learning- and living-environment and offers independent solutions. Also because schools like the HCA, like many other high schools in rural areas, are competing with the other grammar schools in nearby towns and secondary schools and technical schools that offer an access to higher education, too. Therefore, the HCA wants to raise its professional and international profile - initially starting with the linguistic branch. The decisive factors are the strengthening of the three pillars on which language teaching is based on at the HCA: developing the competences of the teaching staff, the internationalization of (extra-) curricular activities and dealing with vocational education and migration in the classroom. The proposed project has therefore the goal of developing the attractiveness of learning and teaching on site, in order to display unique features which make it more appealing to a broader audience of students. The job shadowings and teacher trainings, which have been carefully selected, the previous international contacts should be strengthened so that long-lasting and stable partnerships can arise. The measures also improve both, teachers' and students' competencies (communication skills, cultural competence, methodological competence, etc.). This is achieved by the European dimension of the measures. All the direct and direct participants (the total number of students and teachers of the HCA) should be aware of all the opportunities an internationalized school life has to offer. Thus, the contacts established during the project can be used to enable sustainable project work to educate the students to become active European citizens. However, a differentiated and globalized labor market has a lot of requirements for the student body to which a modern school has to provide answers. It is therefore desirable to enter into a beneficial dialogue with other teachers and to gain the ability to open up our own school for new approaches. Thus, the exchange with foreign schools and training envisaged will help to provide new impetus in these areas. This allows for the students to cope with the challenges of an (international) labour market.
