Vilnius Adult Education Centre (VAEC) constantly is being offered new challenges. Nowadays needs of adults are changing radically: they travel a lot, communicate in different languages and some of them become immigrants who need various education. As a result, teachers encounter a different type of difficulties, such as organizing teaching process so that it addresses specific needs of the learners, communicating effectively with the members of another culture. Goals of the project: - The participants of the mobilities will learn to act professionally, creatively with the consideration of the cultural differences;- Integrate innovative and creative teaching methods and tools into formal and non-formal learning;- Develop community members’ skills to communicate effectively and confidently in native and foreign language;- Organize seminars and trainings based on the knowledge and experience gained during the mobilities in order to disseminate the information at the regional and national levels.According to predetermined selection criteria, and bearing in mind the participants' needs and expectations four participants were chosen and two mobilities:- Two English teachers – projects’ designers and implementers, who have experience in conducting trainings and seminars for adults; one of the teachers is aiming to improve the methodology of teaching the English language, another teacher is going to expand his communicative skills and develop creative techniques with the help of couching.- ICT and mathematics teacher – is able to organize training courses for educators, consults teachers on IT and tools used in the Internet; aims to deepen her knowledge of the English language and improve fluency.- Teacher of Lithuanian – a member of the project design and image development team; organizes and conducts seminars/conferences; aims to improve cultural and social communication skills by acquiring techniques and tools of coaching.Project coordinator is responsible for administrating the project, keeping in touch and cooperating with the participants, VAEC’s managers, communicating with the providers of the mobilities and national agency.Mobility “Fluent English”is designed to improve fluency and speak more easily and confidently in English for professional or personal reasons. Participants will expand their vocabulary, intensively practice their speaking skills working in groups and pairs, enhance socialand intercultural skills, deepen their knowledge of how media and ICT influence the dissemination of information. Mobility “Coaching Skills for Educators” – participants will gain a thorough understanding of what coaching is, its benefits and applicability in the field of education. The course aims to develop coaching skills and introduce coaching tools that can be used in both formal and non-formal education. The Europass certificate will oblige further international professional development and improve competitive performance in labor market.During trainings and public lessons VAEC teachers will acquire speaking and listening skills in the English language and will learn about the coaching methods and tools and how it may facilitate the educational process. At least part of the teachers will try out the method in their lessons or other activities. Finally, professional teachers and active students will participate in building up and developing the modern and European image of the gymnasium - more competitive, more accessible, more innovative and attractive to a wider range of social groups of adults at city, country and international level.VAEC students will also experience the benefits of coaching tools, they will strengthen their personal competences, gain new incentives into communication in the English language, reinforce their self-esteem. In addition to all the above benefits after the dissemination of the results of the project the cooperation with new foreign and Lithuanian adult educators will expand. The new international or regional cooperation may bring new partnerships, in areas of common interest and mutual benefit.
