Production School learning and teaching in an international context
Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

IPSO works towards developing the production schools in order for it to be the most beneficial school for the learners who at the time of attendance are at some kind of crossroads in their lives. The background of this mobility project lies in the wish for establishment of contact between, respectively, teachers and learners from production schools. This form of school is not as widespread as formal education and, thus, there is a need for knowledge sharing and peer learning between European schools. It is our belief that a strengthened cooperation – both in IPSO and through an extensive European network – will benefit the teachers and the learners in production schools. This project is two-fold and will carry two sub-projects: One for VET staff and one for VET learners. VET Staff: For the teachers the primary objective is to work together with colleagues from the same working profession from another country. 18 teachers will be sent to train at a production school abroad. A scheme outlining the training is attached as an annex. The group of participants will be production school teachers, who typically are leaders in a specific workshop within a specific professional field at a Danish production school. VET Learners: For the learners, the primary objective is work with peers at a production school abroad. 24 learners will be part of the mobility exchange. A figure and scheme outlining the mobility exchange is attached as an annex. The learners are under 25 years of age who have not yet settled on a professional area, and have not yet finished any form of formal education. They benefit from a more practical approach to learning for them to be motivated and start a formal education. The teachers will work with colleagues in a relevant workshop for one week. They will do practical work in the workshop, as well as have meetings to discuss and exchange expertise, ideas etc. for the purpose of obtaining new knowledge and insight into pedagogical practices, practical learning and other methods as well as gaining inspiration for new production school tasks for educational purposes. The learners’ mobility exchange is for the learners to participate on equal terms in a relevant workshop for two weeks. This is the main activity as the main purpose of the learner exchange is for the two national learner groups to be integrated and learn from each other. During the two weeks, a visit to a local company, which is workshop relevant, should be held. E.g. to a company to which the host school delivers by-products, sends apprentices or have another kind of cooperation. During the two weeks, the learners will develop their workshop skills, establish new ties, experience and learn about other European youths’ living- and working conditions, develop their language skills and transnational mobility and strengthen their opportunities in starting formal VET education. The preparatory phase for both learners and teachers are bound on a selection process. BV PS will send out a call for applications to the member schools. These applications are short in length in order for them not to be time consuming, but more to establish the wishes and reasons why the applicants wants to participate. A meeting with the participants in due time before the mobility will be arranged in order to brief them and to explain learning goals, and for the participants to formulate their own. In order to secure the learning content, a Letter of Intent has been shared among all the participating organizations. Additionally, the host school must monitor the quality of the agreed learning content, as well as gather and forward the agreed evaluation output. The expected impact on the participants are a greater awareness on being part of the European community. For both learners and teachers, the mobility is about personal development and professional inspiration for the benefit of the individual as well as other teachers, learners and the schools. On regional and national level, it is important to inspire our schools to incorporate a European dimension. Thus, we hope to inspire schools, who have been able to send their learners/teachers on mobility through BV PS, to follow up by making their own Erasmus+ application. BV PS will disseminate the results via articles in its newsletter, as well as offer the article to relevant stakeholders. BV PS will also share the article with the relevant schools, who can use, or further develop, the articles, which can be brought in local news sources. Through a questionnaire to the teachers and learners in the mobility project, we will assess the projects and look at whether the objectives have been reached, and what can be improved. This both the see if the learning objectives have been reached by the participants and to get new ideas for improvement from the participants. On an international level, the mobility projects will continuously be discussed in IPSO auspices, in order for us to evaluate and improve.
