Primary Spanish Training
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Following the Scottish governments 1+2 foreign language policy, our school sought funding for two trained teachers in Spanish to attend the LFEE immersion course in Malaga. This course allowed these teachers to take part in the most up-to-date and extensive primary training for MFL in primary schools. The course refreshed and significantly enhanced their skills in teaching and fluency in the target language. They were then able to disseminate their skills and experiences throughout our whole school where we were able to fully integrate Spanish and, to a lesser extent, French throughout the whole school and within daily classroom practice. The immersion course and the subsequent enthusiasm from the two teachers was the catalyst and motivator for all staff members to undertake the MLPS Local Authority training which initiated our school's strategic plan to support teachers in the implementation and training of all staff to implement Scotlands 1 + 2 strategy to language learning. The new found skills and confidence in Spanish, and language learning as a whole, from the two teachers, led to many events to ignite and share passion for languages across the whole school community. Having established a strong working party with cluster primary schools and the local high school, they were able to have a greater impact across a wider area to ensure good practice was shared, consistent and provided breadth, depth and progression from nursery to S1. Alongside the significant impact on the teachers skills in the target language, the course allowed us to enhance the quality of education and experiences that pupils participate in, in order to develop their cultural awareness, global citizenship and international education. The experiences from the course, links and partnerships made allowed these teachers to build international working relationships for the mutual benefit of all participants. In the long term, such improvements in the quality of our MFL education will have a significant impact on our future generations and the opportunities available to them and allow our school to fulfill the aim of the 1+2 strategy by 2020.
