Primary school of tomorrow

The 5th Day Primary School Kifissia is a rather new, fast growing school in the metropolitan region of Athens, in an area with large socioeconomic inequalities. It has qualified teachers, who envision a school that operates in a modern and efficient manner and provides its students, both healthy and those with special needs, with knowledge, skills and competencies useful to their lives. It also provides them the basis of a healthy and accomplished personality .    Mobility refers to two flows. The first is a five-day training, organized in Prague, Czech Republic. Its subject is the education of children with special needs in a way that respects and develops their personality and involves their parents in the learning process. The second is also a five-day training, organized in Brighton UK. and relates to new approaches in education. It uses the findings of the new theories of cognition and meta-cognition, in order to stimulate students' interest in learning, creativity and their ability to resolve real-life problems. Both flows are organized by ITC – International. Α special education teacher will attend the first mobility flow and three teachers the second one. All participants have a great interest in the subject of their training, the desire to implement in practice the learning outcomes they will acquire and excellent knowledge of the English language . Upon completion of the training, the participating teachers are expected to have acquired the necessary knowledge and to have developed competencies and skills that will enable them to contribute to achieving the vision of the school : - Through the development of educational tools and practices for their pupils, based on principles and tools similar to those used by themselves during their training abroad, which will increase the effectiveness of education - Using practices that will stimulate pupils' interest, enable/ stimulate creative thinking and help them find solutions to the problems they face in their lives - Developing educational tools and initiatives for children with special needs, communicating and collaborating with their parents, involving them in the learning process and using evaluation as part of the learning process of these children - Helping other teachers to adopt similar practices appropriate for their lesson - Collaborating with teachers from other countries, whom participants will encounter during the training abroad, both for the exchange of experiences, methods and results, and for the development of joint projects for their pupils. The project shall contribute to the modernization of teaching methods and tools used by teachers at school, increasing the interest of pupils, their good performance and their acquisition of sound and robust basis for their course thereafter.
