Prévenir le décrochage scolaire en lycée industriel et favoriser l'insertion professionnelle des futurs citoyens européens.
Date du début: 15 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 14 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The section preparing for the vocational Baccalauréat "Aménagement de l’espace architectural" (Architectural layout designers) opened at Lycée Léon Chiris (Grasse) in September 2012. It hosts as many girls as boys, which is uncommon in industrial vocational schools. They are aged between 15 and 17 years old. The vocational teachers of the section found that local businesses worked with many foreign clients whether they are architects, interior designers, kitchen designers, carpenters, fitters or event specialists. These professionals have therefore stressed the need for students to speak English properly . However, we found that our students had difficulties in English. These difficulties have often persisted throughout their schooling without their families having the opportunity to help by offering a language stay, though often a motivating factor. So we were faced with future European citizens who have never (or very little) traveled because of their often disadvantaged cultural background. We therefore set up a mobility project for fifteen 2nd year students of this section to do an internship in Malta in May 2015. Our objectives are : First, we want to fight against school dropout. Indeed, there is a tendency to dropout due to lack of motivation, including foreign language where students often have difficulties which appear to be insurmountable. The prospect of going abroad allows upstream and downstream improvement of their English (thanks to additional English classes dealing with daily or professional life and to a 5 week exposure to English abroad). Our second goal is to increase our students’ chances of passing the examination of the vocational “baccalauréat”. This mobility will also add value to possible further studies. Our third objective is mainly related to the professional world. Linguistic mobility combines foreign language and professional skills. Indeed, our students wiil learn technical English adapted to the practice of their future profession and will also discover different work processes. This work placement will help provide the local labor market with young people able to deal with English speaking clients and will thus better meet the demands of professionals. Moreover, obtaining a Europass Mobility will value the skills that our students will have acquired during their internship and increase their chance of professional insertion at national and European level. The expected results are : - Increase the success rate of the vocational baccalauréat, the rate of post secondary studies and facilitate the professional integration of our students. - Developing the international opening of our school and improve its attractiveness. - Promote intra-community exchanges through our partner and sustain our collaboration with the latter. In today's constantly evolving world, we need self confident and skilled professionals with great adaptability. Both personal and professional development is what we seek for our students.
