The project enabled 25 students of our school to gain work experience in companies and organizations in English-speaking countries - Ireland and England, and enabled our school to deepen and broaden cooperation with foreign partners.
The project´s aim was to improve the quality of professional practice of students and allow them to get certified practice from abroad. The project was supposed to enhance their professional knowledge and skills, improve their level of English and help to better employability.
During the internship participants gained new expertise, skills and competencies. They became familiar with the running of foreign enterprises, their organizational structure and working methods. They learnt work habits, deepened social competences and incorporated into the work team. The project developed autonomy and flexibility of participants and their labor mobility. Participants also learnt about the new cultural environment and adapted into it.
The participants of this project were students of third year of study in maturita programs tourism,
business academy, hospitality and engineering. 13 participants were sent to England and 12 to Ireland. There was 1 accompanying teacher in each group. Participants spent 4 weeks abroad. Internships were passed as a part of the compulsory professional practice of students.
The content of internships was adapted to the field of study of participants. Participants studying hospitality worked in hotels and other accommodation and catering facilities. Participants studying engineering worked as technicians in car service stations. Participants studying tourism worked in facilities for tourists such as cultural institutions and tourist attractions. Participants from business academy worked in administrative positions in companies.
Before leaving for an internship, participants took part in a preparatory course. It contained English classes, cultural training and professional and practical training.
The results of the project are mainly in intangible form. They involve the knowledge, skills and competencies of participants. The tangible results include certificates, ECVET protocols “Placement evaluation”, photographs and other documents. Each participant received Europass Mobility. Also 11 learning units ECVET were created during the project.
The project improved the professional and language training of students and will improve their employability. The project supported the training of qualified and language skilled workers in the areas of engineering, hospitality, catering and tourism, which meets the requirements of employers in our region.
The project was also important from European perspective. It supported labor mobility, improved foreign language knowledge and implemented European validation tools Europass Mobility and ECVET.
