PROJET
TERMINÉ
12 pupils of the 3 rd year studying the field of social care took part in the project in June 2015. The pupils were divided into two groups in two areas of Lower Saxony. Since some of the pupils were not adult, each group was accompanied by one accompanying person. One pupil with a health handicap was included in the project after its approval. It was upon her additional request. She had refused the initial offer before because of her worries. Therefore, she did not have any special financial aid. The personal assistance for her was provided by one accompanying person – a teacher. Her schoolmates were also very helpful.
The main goal of the project consisted in gaining and extending special as well as general competencies, thus achieving better comparability and compatibility of qualifications between our common fields of study and mutual recognition of learning outcomes. For example, pupils enhanced their personal approaches, practical skills and improved their knowledge of general as well as special foreign language. They interconnected theoretical knowledge and practical skills and expertise. In order to achieve these objectives and to assure the quality of the project, we created new documents within the ECVET system. These documents met our expectations and it made more specific communication with the facilities of practical training and the communication of the evaluation of pupils easier.
The pupils had been prepared for language skills to fulfil our goals more smoothly. The pupils had also been prepared in a special way, including preparation focused on social and cultural issues, before they left for the Mobility program.
The participants carried out the placement simultaneously in two towns in social care facilities for disabled people and in retirement homes.
Within the practical training, the pupils also co-operated with German pupils and they attended specialized classes at school. They took part in school projects for citizens in retirement homes.
Contact persons in the facilities, partner German schools and the accompanying person supported them. They communicated together and discussed the course and pupils’ progress. They also verified newly created ECVET-system learning units during the practical training. They planned afternoon programs and free time activities for pupils. In addition to the professional issues of the Mobility, the program focused on acquainting with the region as well.
During the placement, the participants kept their Practical Training Logs (Portfolios), where they recorded their activities and monitored fulfilment of their goals and learning outcomes based on the specific outline and goals (the ECVET system).
The participants received the Europass Mobility as a European document, which included the data on working experience achieved during the European Mobility. They also received evaluation of their ECVET-system learning outcomes.
The placement of Czech participants was included in and recognized as the practical training for pupils, which is compulsory according to the school educational program for pupils in the 3 rd year of social care.
Together with our German colleagues, we are also planning a placement for German students again at our school and in the facilities where we carry out practical training. Thus the natural continuity following the placement in Germany and enhancing of our co-operation is ensured.
In addition we have already discussed further improvement of our cooperation with their foreign partner organizations.
After finishing of the placement, the participants acquainted their parents, teachers and schoolmates with their knowledge in the form of a workshop with photos and presentations. The pupils also presented their participation in the placement to other students of special schools during the Gerontology Days in Ostrava.
They also prepared small pocket mini-dictionaries containing basic phrases which are intended for future participants and they will always be readily available for communication with a client in social care in Germany. The information on the past mobility of pupils is on the website of our school as well as of partner German schools. The results of the placement will be regularly presented during the Open Days at our schools. The news was also published in local newspapers.
The results of the system (ECVET) were assessed and evaluated by the project management. They serve as feedback for further execution of learning units for the other field of study, i.e. the nursing assistant, which will be included in future activities of our foreign co-operation with Germany.
We are collaborating on the improvement of our execution of the ECVET system with our German partners and we are planning to extend this co-operation with their foreign partners.
According to the results of final reports, the participants have invaluable experience after Mobility and better access to labour markets across Europe.
