Both the green entrepreneurship (/business initiative) and the business operation are being examined deeper and deeper in the context of the overall environmental management, as its protection constitutes a vital component for strong competition and therefore viable economic and social development. Investors, suppliers, ecological organizations, consumerist organizations and public authorities show great interest in a company’s green management.
• The reasons imposing the adjustment of the businesses productive process to environmental friendly practices and actions are:
• The community law which becomes stricter and stricter
• The enhancement of the development and the diffusion of the environment’s technologies
• The boom of the technological evolution together with the increasing investments in the field anti-pollution technologies and facilities
• The development in fields such as the organic agriculture
This program aims at the expansion and designation of environmental entrepreneurship actions concerning the fields of tourist economy, food technology and construction industry.
Aims:
• To perceive and understand the importance of the economical development through the suitable business plan that includes the embodiment of distinct environmental actions and the abidance of certain procedures and requisitions.
• To comprehend the way that production factors are organized and combined, in order for goods and services to be created.
• To put emphasis in the introduction and application of innovations and creative emulation of every enterprising effort.
• To explore the businessman’s ability to see into, recognize and utilize any given chances for profit in the market.
Especially for the teachers, the aims are:
• To be able to sensitize their students in sustainability matters and activate them towards the green entrepreneurship
• To be able to inform their students about the green vocations (/trades) through ideas and experiences related to their specialties, aiming at their social and economical development.
Based on the above, two relevant and supplemental programs of activities in the field of green growth were designed. The first is relevant to the education of the teachers and the second to the acquisition of relevant vocational experiences for the school students. The team of the participants will consist of twelve (12) teachers and eighteen (18) students that are enrolled in the fields of Agronomy & Food Technology, Finance and Administration, Construction and Information Technology.
The foreseen training content of these two actions includes:
1. Seminars, visits in vocational places and laboratories of green specialties.
2. Study of action plan in green specialties.
3. Study of the methods of formal and non-formal education
4. Study of the structure and activities of the environmental educational centers in Cyprus
The students in the two-week period will participate in practical classes at the vocational education centers with respective visits in businesses with green entrepreneurship. Thus, there will be combination of theoretical training and practice as the students will be familiar with the places of their future vocations.
The plan aims at addressing the participants’ needs related with the content of mobility and concerns:
• The improvement of knowledge as far as the students’ the green vocational guidance is concerned, through the study of action plans and models of cooperation of the TEE school with equivalent businesses.
• The improvement of their knowledge concerning the contemporary school curricula and environmental study, through seminars and visiting workplaces.
• The contact and familiarization with the structure of the host country’s educational system for the TEE via studying the methods of both formal and non-formal education.
• The actual familiarization through paying visits to vocational schools.
• The evaluation and observation of the trainees at the green trades’ working places and comparison with the existing employees’ qualifications, training and necessary skills.
According to the above we anticipate long term benefits for the school
• Association of the school with green businesses of the local community.
• Reinforce the guidance and orientation of the school regarding the green professions.
• Teachers’ training on matters on green entrepreneurship.
• Teachers’ training on matters of breakthrough anew practices in the field of vocational education and training.
• Improvement of knowledge, skills, professional qualifications, accreditation and updating.
• Broadening of the educational prospects of the TEE students.
• Co-formation of the professional outlines and input in the formation of the European frame of qualifications.
