Praktikum im Rahmen des Berufsbild des Diätassistenten in der EU
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The training as dietician at the BFS Diätetik is taught in three years, as full-time course with practical exercises. Requirements for admission are an intermediate-level of education or a previously completed professional training. Students gain abilities in the practical implementation of medical instructions, making impeccable dietetic foods, counseling of patients with dietary needs, as well as to independently manage catering facilities according to dietetic requirements at hospitals, sanatoriums, nursing homes, hotels etc. Due to changing nutritional behavior and associated diseases, the profession of dietician will be more important in the future than ever. Comprehensive and specialized knowledge is therefore of particular importance. The job description of dieticians exists also in other countries of the EU. The training in comparison, however, is carried out differently. A stay abroad is supposed to demonstrate students the differences, to give them an understanding of other approaches to nutritional therapies and therewith, enable professional exchange on an international level. For this reason, four first-year students will be sent to Vienna and Bruneck. Two of them will do an internship at the AKH Vienna, and the other two students will be working at the hospital in Bruneck. The institutions providing the internship opportunities have already been contacted by phone and electronically. Reservations for accommodation have been made and the journey details are currently being looked after. The objective of this stay is to solidify basic knowledge gained in the first year of training, in particular in the fields of pathology, anatomy, dietetics, nature and ethics of this profession, politics, and nutritional counseling, as well as to expand professional skills. Participants will learn about similar professions abroad, to work independently and as a team. They will reflect their own origin and culture and be able to approach colleagues and patients of different cultural background openly and confidently. Through targeted meetings during the preparatory phase, participants will get to know the partnering institution and host country. They will exchange in advance experiences with participants of the previous year. Students will write a progress report on their activities during their stay at the partnering institution. A list of contacts will provide them with the right people to turn to in case of an emergency. Goals will be reviewed after their stay with the help of an evaluation form and personal interviews. The project will be presented on an open house day at school, with posters and further information on a partition wall. Mrs.. Wieland and former participants will answer questions and provide information on this project. Furthermore, the school website features this project with up-to-date information and pictures on the current participants. In the beginning of the next school year, participants will give a presentation, which will allow other students of the BFS Diätetik to partake in their experiences and adventures.
