PRACTICE PEACE is an international project on discrimination, conflict management and peace. The target group are 24 enthusiastic youth workers from Germany, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Poland and Serbia that are willing to enhance their didactic, methodological and cross-cultural skills. The context of the project are the existing resp. historical conflicts between Kosovo-Serbia, Macedonia-Greece and Germany-Poland as well as the recent rise of anti-European, chauvinist and nationalist movements in Europe which systematically exclude particular societal groups. The aim of the project is to empower and motivate the participants to counter discrimination in all its forms in their individual living environments. Taking part in PRACTICE PEACE they shall experience diversity as something positive, strengthen their action competence and enhance their sense of inclusion and social responsibility. In addition, we aim to connect the project partners and establish a lasting cooperation between them. Accordingly, there will be a contact-making seminar at the beginning of the project. It is followed by two subsequent trainings for multipliers. In the first training, the multipliers take part in a simulation game. They take the roles of various political and civil society actors and simulate an exemplary conflict situation. In doing so, they acquire basic knowledge and competences in dealing with conflict, discrimination, and violence. Drawing on this, the participants develop a workshop unit with didactic materials in the second training. These materials are then provided to the public and can be readily used by the multipliers in their non-formal education and youth work on the ground. We expect from the project a multiplier effect such that the contents and methods from the training are disseminated to as many other target groups as possible. Concerning the participants, we expect that they gain a deeper understanding of the complex issue of discrimination, increase their employability and responsiveness through additional practical skills, and strengthen their European identity. With regard to the partner organizations, we expect an enhanced attractiveness, effectivity, and visibility of their non-formal educational activities as a result of the distribution of the outcomes of the project results. In the long run, we strive for a decrease of discrimination in the project countries as well as an alleviation of tensions between the above-mentioned conflicting countries.
