44 High School in Lodz is a public school which provides education for teenagers and young adults with learning difficulties. Thus there are only therapeutic classes in the school. The school's most important objective is to improve the efficiency of teaching students with disabilities and disorders through the use of appropriate methods, forms and teaching aids to help young people acquire knowledge and develop skills.Raising the qualifications and developing skills of teaching staff is necessary in order to achieve this objective. The project: 'Dealing with therapeutic classes - raising the qualifications of teachers from 44 High School in Lodz' is planned to begin on 1st June 2016 and to last 12 months. The teacher training course 'Dealing with difficult learners' under Action 1 Erasmus + fits into the needs of the school.Project goals:1) Raising the level of knowledge and skills on European didactic solutions in the field of education of students with learning difficulties.2)Sharing the acquired knowledge and skills on innovative didactic solutions used in Europe with respect to students with learning problems.3) The implementation of modern didactic solutions in the therapeutic classroom teaching.4) Improving teachers' knowledge of a foreign language and ability to work in a multicultural environment.5) Improving the ability to cooperate with other teachers and to develop common didactic process.The project participants and the main activities undertaken in the Mobility: 1) Teachers of history, ICT, English and school psychologist- participation in the course "Dealing with difficult learners" organized by Pilgrims in Canterbury in the UK (www.pilgrims.co.uk).2) Sharing the acquired knowledge and new skills with other members of teaching staff, the use of recommended methodsSelected specific activities and methodology used in the project:1)The analysis of the participants' needs in the context of the school needs2)The language and content-wise preparation for training course (reading the recommended literature, vocabulary revision);3) Active participation in the course. The preparation of notes from the course including all the solutions used in educating learners with learning difficulties;4) The exchange of experiences with teachers from other countries, and the preparation of notes from these conversations.5) Improving English skills through active participation in the course.6) The preparation of a report on the training course for the head master of 44 High School and workshops for teaching staff (based on notes), 'open lessons' presenting teaching solutions from the course, which will increase the effectiveness of the education of students with learning difficulties. The implementation of the most useful solutions which will be approved by teaching staff. This objective is in line with the European School Development Plan.7)The dissemination of knowledge and skills among pedagogical and therapeutic employees in the school and in other institutions.Expected results:1) The improvement of the qualifications of four teachers,namely, the acquisition of the knowledge of modern didactic solutions in teaching students with learning disabilities will allow for constructive, consistent with the standards of the twenty-first century solving educational problems.2)The implementation of innovative European solutions to teaching by educators working with students with learning difficulties will increase the effectiveness of teaching process in 44 High School.3) The improvement of English command among school teachers will enable them to organize extracurricular bilingual (CLIL) activities, prepare school to participate in the Erasmus + program, update their knowledge and skills, through the exchange of experiences on an international level.4) Teaching Staff will develop the ability to work in a multicultural environment, which will allow to look at the teaching profession from a European perspective and facilitate the work in the multicultural classroom.5) Teaching staff will improve the ability to cooperate in the creation of the teaching process, which will lead to the development of educational solutions that will improve the effectiveness of teaching.The potential long-term benefits:1) The development of professional competence of teachers from 44 High School and improving the quality of school work2) The European dimension of our school3) The development of openness and tolerance of all target groups
