The presented project builds on the experience of the students´ placements since 1999, and develops further the idea of building professional networks on the European level. It deals with the field of social work and policy and is based on adopting and internalising new approaches and working methods in this sphere on both personal and organizational levels. It contributes to the transformation of Czech social work and exchange of experience between the participating schools, placement organizations, and placement participants. On the institutional level, the participating students learn about alternative ways of dealing with different social issues, including the possibilities of their viability in the Czech context. On the personal level, the students are exposed to multicultural reality of today´s world, which is necessary for creating new professionalism among Czech social workers. Raising the students´ awareness of their social and civic responsibility through exposing them to closely related and overlapping spheres of theory and practice, of educational and working life, is yet another important reason for our project. Last but not least, the new skills and competencies will increase the students´ job market opportunities.
The basic content of this project a six-week students' placement in organizations of social work in Finland. The students are placed in organizations dealing with the issues of the students' professional orientation. At these places the students learn through practice and supervision about different types of solutions to the given issue, and examples of good practice. During their stay they can also present the Czech situation and share their study and placement experience from the Czech Republic - not only with their placement colleagues, but also with students and staff of their Finnish host vocational school of Youth and Leisure Work. Their visits of various organizations and institutions of social work, reading documentation, and getting to know the host country social work system is also a part of the project.
The implementation of the project takes part in close cooperation of all the concerned parties (the sending organization, the host organization, the placement organizations, the participants) - they all more or less participate in the selection of participants, arranging transport and accomodation, their preparation and initial orientation, the process of supervising and evaluating the placement and the project as such, and dissemination of the results. The the sending organization coordinator is in contact with all the parties and has the main share of responsibility for the smooth and successful course of the project.
The optimal target group of participants are students of the second year, who already have some professional experience and are able to use it, and to compare Czech and foreign situation. After returning home they stay at school and can share their international experience with their colleagues and teachers. As Evangelic Academy is a small school, and this is the first year of Erasmus+ programme, we find it sensible to arrange the placement for two students, while we expect to increase the number of participants as well as receiving partner organizations in future.
