Rapid changes in all areas of development dictate changes in the education system as well. In our school we perceive these changes as the modernization of our learning approaches. We want to enhance the innovation that would motivate our pupils to develop lifelong learning inner desire. The achievements of our students in national and international exams are not as good as we would wish for. Therefore, we have prepared a development project for the period from 2014 to 2018. We have planned a systematic way to improve teachers’ practice in order to improve pupil attainments. Accordingly, teachers and other staff will take part in the relevant in-service training through European educational seminars. This will improve their competences in different areas, such as communication in a foreign language, reading literacy, internal differentiation and motivation, learning entrepreneurship, learning to learn, developing interpersonal and intercultural competence and the use of ICT in the classroom. In the first two years teachers will attend seminars in the following topics: - The use of e-learning in the classroom and the empowerment in ICT in skills (2 participants: a school psychologist and a professor of physics and technology) - Learning English (2 participants, primary school teachers) - Language & Methodology for Teachers of English: a Blended Approach - Encouraging Creative Thinking (1 participant, pre-primary tacher) We are also planning an extension of international cooperation at the internatinal level with relevant institutions which also includes the participation of students in international projects and their communication with their peers around the world. The participants expect the improvement of their competences in the field of information science, technical cooperation at the international level, application of ICT in learning, teaching and counselling, communication in a foreign language. Hopefully, they will successfully introduce innovative approaches in their work. Students will be able to communicate with each other and with their teachers via the online classroom, which will partially solve the problem of placing additional activities in overcrowded schedule. Updated approaches and clearness of experimental work will motivate pupils and equip them with knowledge on higher cognitive levels. The first set of education will be attended by 7 of our professional staff from different areas of expertise, which represents approximately one-fifth of our professional staff and covers all three educational cycles.
