Dr. Horácio bento Gouveia school (HBG) is a an intermediate public institution, which is located in the city of Funchal, capital of Madeira, and has more than 1600 students, which makes it the biggest intermediate school of Portugal. Is also has about 200 teachers and 200 staff. It’s Educational Project values the development of curricular and extracurricular projects, as well as the initiative and autonomy of teachers contributing for the educational development. Actually a large number of initiatives are being developed, projects and events that allow a formative offer to the school and a diverse participation in the whole school community. There are projects related to discipline, a unique Comenius partnership with the Lisbon University where post-graduate courses are being developed .The dynamic that characterizes the HBG is based on the work of its staff and is therefore taken very seriously in-service training of teachers, their training, as well as the commitment to educational innovation and addressing factors of failure inherent in a institution of this nature.The Personal Development Plan This was developed with the goal of producing an increase in school quality, seeking to intervene positively in the organization's management model, the overall performance of employees, curriculum activity in extracurricular activities and, finally, in problem diagnosed and that need further attention.The approach of this plan is based on a school's capacity building strategy in the following areas ::Governing body - known examples of success in improving the academic performance of students, proposals for extracurricular activities, intervention strategies in indiscipline, combating early school leaving, integration actions of students and parents and methods of administrative management.European Club Team HBG - promote specialized training in the European Erasmus + program and develop advanced skills, enabling the school to the creation and participation in transnational projects. It is proposed to hold two job shadowing projects and organizations aimed consulting firms to develop projects under the program.Curriculum teachers - Training on specific themes in order to promote educational innovation, creativity in the educational activity, the adoption of best practices and new features that deliver the increase in the quality of education in HBG, to produce the continuous improvement of performance school students.Extracurricular projects - promote the improvement and development of specific skills in parallel themes to teaching in order to contribute to the school dynamics, through extracurricular activities, which foster the proper functioning of the institution and produce in students, the development of citizenship skills, solidarity and living habits, fundamental to their overall development.It is intended that this plan produces a set of "outcomes" with widespread impact on the school, in particular, the organization's management level, representing an intention of openness, knowledge of other realities, to adopt new strategies and best practices . The aim is to increase the participation of HBG in transnational partnership projects, namely the Erasmus + program. The aim is to promote educational innovation and the improvement of learning experiences offered to students and, thus, improving their academic performance, participation, investing in its capacity as the final product of the work in school. The aim is to ultimately enhance the curriculum supplement and complement action to formal education through continued commitment to training at the level of extracurricular activities, trying to bring up new ideas and projects that have come to represent a highly relevant argument in the quality of courses offered by the HBG.
