CONTEXT Alonso Quijano Secondary School, Quintanar de la Orden (Toledo), is applying to participate in the Project “Plan for Teacher Training in English to improve and widen the bilingual Porgramme” so that the staff may take part in courses abroad to improve their competence in the English language. APPLICANTS´ NUMBER AND PROFILE Mª del Pilar Pradillos Rodríguez: Primary Teacher for Children with Disabilities, worked in the Bilingual Programme in her previous school. César Romé Cuenca: Technology Teacher, Head of the Technology Department, coordinator of the Project, has worked in the bilingual programme since 2009. Aurora Hurtado Izquierdo: Art Teacher, Head of the Art Department, has worked in the bilingual programme since 2012. Mª del Mar García Blanco: English Teacher, coordinator of the Bilingual Programme, has worked in the bilingual programme since the beginning 2008. ACTIVITIES “Fluency and English Language Development for Teachers”, to improve the linguistic competence of teachers with a low level of the language and use it in their daily work. “Developing Oral Fluency in the English Language Classroom (Secondary)”, to improve our students´ oral practice and fluency in the daily classes. “Practical Methodology for Teachers Working with CLIL”, to help teachers practice the CLIL methodology. “Empowerment in ICT skills – Technology Enhanced Learning”, to learn more about software and tools to integrate technology in the learning. After these courses, there will be activities in the classroom to practise all the things the teachers have learnt during the academic year 2015-2016. METHODOLOGY Our methodology is completely active and cooperative. >Teachers: work group through the Teachers´ Regional Centre of Castilla-La Mancha so that all the teachers involved in the Project and others take part. >Students: use of TIC and mobiles. The Internet as a didactic tool and use of English as an active means of communication. DESCRIPTION OF RESULTS All the activities proposed in this project want to improve the teachers´ communicative competences, fluency and pronunciation. All of them will mean a better teaching practice. Also, the grammar competences will improve and the results will be seen when teachers have to write documents and papers in English. IMPACT >For our school: It will open itself to other schools nearby and abroad, there will be an improvement in the quality and prestige of our teaching since the working environment will become more modern, dynamic, open to new educational practices, there will be more schools to cooperate with as our teachers will be more qualified. >For teachers: It will help them better their ability to communicate with foreign people and their teaching practice, exchange information about the different teaching and educational systems, widen their knowledge on the culture of the country where their course is taking place, encourage their professional motivation and a better understanding and answering social, linguistic, cultural, etc, diversity, tolerance and solidarity. BENEFITS ON THE LONG TERM Considering that the benefits of these training experiences in foreign countries are a lot, and they are related not only to the teachers taking part in them, but also to the schools they are working in, to the educational system and the surroundings, it is a challenge the access of the potential candidates to this type of activities (mobility) which means an added value to the teachers´ own training in the short, medium and long term.
