PROJET
TERMINÉ
The title of the project: The first step... at school, in the local community, in life.
The project will be carried out by the Primary School and Kindergarten of Zespół Placówek Oświatowych w Kamieniu (Małopolska, Poland) and Gavrio Primary School (Andros, Greece), both schools located in rural areas. The participants of the planned mobility action include the teachers of kindergarten, lower primary school and the head teacher - 5 people altogether.
The aim of the project is:
1. Observing the work of the partner school in areas related to:
A. pedagogy and theory of teaching, with a special focus on supporting pupils in their acquisition of key competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes), including numeracy, writing, reading and foreign languages,
B. individualisation of work and supporting students with special educational needs and / or weak social skills,
C. the cooperation with parents, local authorities and the local community;
2. Sharing experience and examples of good practice with the partner school in the area of teaching theory, pedagogy and cooperation with the local community;
3. Encouraging teachers and students to participate in the international dimension of education, including joint ventures like e-Twinning or strategic school partnerships as well as building a network of international contacts, raising the intercultural awareness and developing foreign language competence;
4. Implementing the mobility outcomes, which will raise the quality of our school work. The examples of good practice will be compiled by the team of teachers involved in the mobility action (team evaluation) and by all of the school staff (general school evaluation).
Activities and methods:
1. Diagnosing the school 's needs in terms of work quality improvement and drawing up the school's European Development Plan.
2. Selecting a partner school.
3. Selecting the participants of the mobility project.
4. Choosing the areas to be the subject of observation and preparing an invitation for the partner school including the suggested scope of cooperation.
6. Drawing up a plan and schedule of particular activities, arranging the details with the partner school, presenting the plan to all the members of the staff, preparing information for parents, school website and local media.
7. Filling in the application form.
8. Preparing tools (e.g. observation sheets) and drawing up a detailed list of the areas to be observed, for instance, methods and tools for assessing children, forms and time of preparing pupils for writing and reading, the organisation of the school day, the work of learning support teachers, individualisation of teaching for the students with special educational needs, diagnosing pupils' aptitudes, the work with gifted pupils, equalising educational opportunities, the range of pupils' numeracy and language skills acquired at an early stage of education, school management and relationship with parents and governing authorities, school transport, social status of a teacher, building a positive image of school education.
9. Including the project activities in the school work plan for the year 2014/2015.
10. Job shadowing - observation of the work of the partner school, exchange of experience and teaching materials (according to the mutually agreed plan).
11. Collecting, evaluating and presenting the outcomes of the project to other members of the staff, parents, students, local authorities as well as other schools of the community / region.
Expected outcomes, impact of the project and long-term benefits:
1. Developing in terms of innovative resources and methods applicable for teaching, upbringing and cooperation with the local community;
2. Enhancing the European dimension of education and gaining experience essential to carry out another international projects;
3. Improving ICT and mobility skills, as well as social and linguistic competences;
4. Motivating the staff to train, improve their professional skills and tools and undertake international projects.
The project is also supposed to show the teachers (by means of collected observation material) the problems, challenges and educational opportunities common in Europe, in particular the vital role of the initial stage of the school education - helping pupils to make a good start at school and supporting their development from the very beginning. The participants of the mobility action will use the gained experience to share their knowledge and skills as well as to motivate and support teachers of our community in carrying out their own international projects.
