PMVT is both a sending and hosting organisation for European volunteers through the Erasmus + programme. PMVT continues to liaise with Léargas, which is Ireland's National Agency for the management of European and International cooperation programmes in the area of primary and secondary education, lifelong learning and vocational education and training and youth and community work. Léargas is a not for profit organisation wholly owned by the Department of Education and Science. Through an application for funding , to host volunteers, PMVT hopes to grow their Erasmus + capacity intake. Up to date information is kept on the European Youth Portal , which can be accessed to all interested parties between the ages of 18 to 30 year olds. PMVT is committed to reducing homelessness and the harm caused by drug misuse and social disadvantage. PMVT provides low threshold entry services, primarily to younger persons with complex needs and offers a pathway out of homelessness based on the principle of the Housing First model and within a framework that is based on equal opportunities, dignity and respect. For those volunteers, who are interested, excited and energised by working with the most marginalised in society, they can apply to volunteer on our programme for a duration of 12 months. PMVT will then liaise with the sending organisation to establish roles and responsibilities and draft the activity agreement for the duration of the programme. The volunteer will work a 35 hour week in a structured and professional environment and will be supported by a mentor, the service manager and programme manager, through ongoing planned fortnightly meetings. Non formal learning is recgonised throughout the programme and it refers to the learning in daily life events. It is mainly 'learning by doing' also referred to as experiential learning. This learning will be framed through specific learning outcomes and it is envisaged that all new learning will be mapped out and evaluated for the Youthpass Certificate, which is a formal document, which enables young people to acquire essential competencies and contribute to their personal and professional development, social inclusion and active partnership, thereby improving their employment prospects.
