PMVT is both a sending and hosting organisation for European volunteers through the Erasmus Plus programme. PMVT liaise with Leargas which is Ireland's national agency for the management of European and international co operation programmes in the area of primary and secondary education, lifelong learning, vocational education and training and youth and community work. Leargas is a not for profit organisation wholly owned by the department of education and science. Through an application for funding to apply to host volunteers for a period of time ,PMVT hopes to grow their Erasmus Plus capacity intake . PMVT have updated their project information on the European Youth Portal, which can be accessed to all interested parties between the ages of 16 to 30 year olds. PMVT is committed to reducing homelessness and the harm caused by drug misuse and social disadvantage. PMVT provides low threshold entry services, primarily to younger persons with complex needs and offers a pathways out of homelessness based on the principle of the Housing First Model and within a framework that is based on equal opportunities , dignity and respect. For those volunteers who are interested , excited and energised by working with the most marginalised in society then they can apply to volunteer on our programme for a duration of 12 months. PMVT will then liaise with the sending organisation to establish roles and responsibilities and draft the Activity Agreement for the duration of the programme. The volunteer will work a 35 hour week in a structured professional environment and will be supported with a mentor, the service manager and programme manager , through ongoing fortnightly meetings. Non formal learning is recgonised throughout the programme and it refers to the learning in daily life activities, it is mainly 'learning by doing' or referred to as experiential learning. This learning will be framed through specific learning outcomes and it is envisaged that all new learning will be mapped out and evaluated for the Youthpass certificate , which is a formal document which enables young people to acquire essential competences and contribute to their personal development, social inclusion and active citizenship thereby improving their employment prospects. The Erasmus Plus programme, as soon as it has been evaluated with the volunteer and partner organisation will then be ready for promotion. The Erasmus Plus programme now has a slot on our social media site and both internal and external newsletters, this allows the positive experience to be shared and promoted to a wider audience, thus hopefully providing a knock on effect for future potential volunteers and organisations.
