The youth exchange project 'Personal Branding 4 EUth employment, 3rd edition' took place in Vilanova i la Geltrú ( Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) from 31st July to 6th August 2014. Organized by the Fundació Catalunya Voluntària, it was result of the partnership with the NGO Coaching 4 EU, from Cluj Napoca (Romania) and the NGO United Societies of Balkans, from Thessaloniki (Greece).
21 young people between 18-25 years old, 15 of them being young people with few opportunities and 4 of them with special needs, were responsible to organize the program and were able to use this opportunity to learn new and relevant information and techniques to improve their job profile while improving their level of self motivation, self esteem and self knowledge.
The project is a youth exchange in the Erasmus+ program, and comes as a response to the young people's needs of developing their employability in the context of economic crisis/ unemployment issue they face nowdays.
The main objective of the project was achieved: to develop the employability skills of 21 young people who are looking for a job.
The objectives of the project were:
• Empower young people to create their Personal Branding in order to improve their profile on the job market.
• Prepare young people to create their own Europass CV.
• Develop abilities for self-presentation to a job interview.
• Exchange ideas and experience to find solutions for the unemployment issue.
• Inform participants about the opportunities they have for their personal and professional development on Erasmus+ program.
• Promote cooperation and solidarity among young people at European level.
The activities of the project were built on non-formal education methodology and included cultural presentations, open discussions, creativity exercises, peer working, theoretical inputs. 4 people, including the 3 group leaders and the program coordinator facilitated the activities using methods as role playing, interview simulation, open space, workshops, exercises which took place at individual level and in small and large cultural mixed groups.
Exchange served to improve self- knowledge, with special focus on job interests and competences and created a real exchange of information, skills, ideas, concerns and know how among the young people. The whole group is much more aware aware their relevant role in improving critical skills and attitudes and in creating/using and promoting their own personal branding to find the job they are looking for.
