The knowledge, skills and abilities targeted in the training programme (see the National Curriculum and Training Agreement),were acquired, practiced and evaluated according to the performance standards of the specialty. The students have performed their training in optimal conditions, using instruments, devices and materials in keeping with the new international requirements for patient care.Special attention was given to practicing technical skills by means of demonstrative simulation of techniques in the skills laboratory of the clinic followed by actual performance in the wards. The knowledge and skills were acquired and developed by the students? active participation in their own training, cooperation and collaboration with the medical team (the students worked with the medical team who organised, guided, monitored and integrated them in the new training environment).
The assessment of the internship was conducted by means of a practical test and a written test and a Log Book containing Assessment Sheets and the Tutor?s Report. All students obtained excellent results. The professional skills were attested by a Europass certificate, while the grades obtained at the internship final evaluation were recorded in the class book by the teacher in charge of professional training. The students improved their communication skills in English using specific terminology by interacting with the medical team,as well as with the patients and locals.Language skills (in English and Modern Greek)were evaluated through a written and an oral test.In addition to technical and language benefits (developing technical and language skills and abilities),students have developed relational skills, have become familiar with the culture of a European nation and have prepared for the integration in the European space as active citizens.
