Peer Review Extended II - Transfer and further development of the European Peer Review methodology as an element of the Common Quality Assurance Framework (CQAF)

The project built on the results of two previous projects, “Peer Review in initial VET” (AT/04/C/F/TH-82000) and “Peer Review Extended” (EAC/32/06/13, LE-78CQAF), both of which promoted the development of a promising and innovative instrument for the external evaluation of VET Providers, Peer Review. A common European Peer Review procedure was developed for initial VET (ISCED 3/4) and tested in eight countries in 2006 (AT, DK, IT, FI, UK, PT, NL, RO) and in four countries in 2007 (AT, DE, ES, HU). The project facilitated the transfer and further development of the European Peer Review methodology as an element of the Common Quality Assurance Framework (CQAF).The specific aims of the current project were to- Support the (further) dissemination and transfer of the European Peer Review methodology in the participating countries and facilitate the adaptation of the procedure to the needs and situations in the “new” countries (CZ, SI, TR), - Transfer the European Peer Review methodology to continuing VET,- Improve and enhance the use of the European Peer Review methodology through the development of face-to-face peer training/guidelines for peers,- Provide for further practical experimentation (continuing VET; new types of schools including schools for apprenticeship training), and- Investigate the benefits of Peer Review and support the sustainable implementation of Peer Review as an element of the CQAF at national and European levels.Outcomes are 1) a version of the European Peer Review Procedure that takes into account the needs and requirements of a) continuing VET and b) the “new” countries participating; 2) instructional/promotional material addressing the whole range of stakeholders in VET to support further dissemination and transfer of the Peer Review methodology (material developed by partners, Peer Review Readers, website); 3) face-to-face peer training. Further outcomes are the further improvement and implementation of the Peer Review methodology as an element of the CQAF.
