Patrimoines métissés de l’Europe, Patrimoines Européens ? Quel Patrimoine pour l’Europe et les européens ?
Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 31 août 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The University Jean Monnet, Saint-Etienne, France proposes a new Jean Monnet module called “EUMETIS”. This module is a winter school, delivered in French and dedicated to the studies of a new and interdisciplinary topic: European Cultural Heritage. Each year, a 9-day session will be offered through a mix of traditional lectures and reversed pedagogy sessions (class where the professor becomes the resource and support of students’ work; in-situ classes, world café) allowing to reflect and exchange on the concept of the emergence of a European Heritage. This module will welcome up to 100 participants, including the Master students in Heritage (compulsory component of their course with delivery of ECTS), other discipline students (with possibility of ECTS) as well as Doctoral students. EUMETIS will also be open to civil society participants upon registration. The innovating reverse and participative pedagogy aims to foster new ways of teaching on Heritage. EUMETIS bridges a scientific gap as no other module on European heritage and its particular role in the past and future construction of Europe. Nonetheless, Heritage is a prominently European concept and challenge. Jean Monnet himself declared that Europe should have been initially built through Culture. Indeed, heritage for all and for each of us can coexist while respecting each other. The module will focus around four progressive and complementary axes: the genealogy of European Heritage, the legal frameworks, the patrimonial practices and the challenges of tomorrow’s Heritage for tomorrow’s Europe. All module content will be recorded and made available online on a dedicated EUMETIS collaborative platform representing a true space of exchange and link with other countries in or out of the EU. This module aims to create in Europe a unique nucleus on Heritage knowledge and skills.
