Patelan raitti
Date du début: 11 août 2016, Date de fin: 10 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Pateniemi school is a comprehensive school of 650 pupils in Oulu. The school works in two separate units but with common rules and working culture. In our school we have lots of different kinds of expertise, from cultural activities to sports, from technology to pupil involvement. All of these are being actively developed in goal-oriented way by working together with pupils, parents and the school staff. A positive working culture is a necessity for good learning. Being active, well planned and well prepared describes our school well. Our strengths are individuality and support of learning, as well as activating and involving the pupils. These are the basic things also highlighted in the new curriculum. It is our wish to develop our school focusing on pedagogy. The use of new technology serves the content of learning - with the focus on pedagogy. We want to share our expertise and develop our work in networks. We want to find active partners with whom to develop the school of the future.Pateniemen raitti (Pateniemi pathways) – project is a co-operative project between the school, its surroundings and the museum of Northern Ostrobothnia that gathers different partners of the area together. The aim of the project is to save the old history of the area, including the history of Pateniemi sawmill and the port since the 1860’s. The pupils of our school get to know the history of the area and they produce stories by means of pictures, written stories and drawings. At the same time they will realize how they are a part of their own community. The stories, videos as well as interviews made with elderly people of the area will be saved, to be viewed along the historical route that will be made in the Pateniemi area. The pupils and the residents of the area can familiarize themselves with the material with the help of QR-code technology. The local historical association and the local museum will be involved with producing the material.Along the historical route there will be posts with QR-codes that will open a video, a picture or a story connected with the history of the place. Nature paths and sporting routes have also been realized in the same manner to benefit the pupils and residents. Adventure and geocaching routes are also being planned. All the material will be given for common use at the Pateniemi library and also to the area’s homes for the elderly people for stimulation and refreshment. The ideas from the course will be presented at our school. On the basis of pedagogical discussion the teachers will be able to emphasize some issues for the future, to be part of our school’s annual written strategy. It is the aim of our school to create good practices in connection with the new curriculum. This project is a unifying one as well as wide-scoped, well in the spirit of the new curriculum. Our school has been focusing on activating the teaching, which this project supports in a natural way: learning is taken out of the classroom. It is our wish that the digital learning devices will be a natural tool for the pupils that will help them bring out their abilities in different ways. Our aim is to combine technology and creativity in a suitable way.One of the goals is to commit the school’s work with its surroundings and Europe. It is very often the case that school, despite all its aims, remains a closed community that only functions within its own sphere. Now we want the teaching work to be more openly seen by the community in the most concrete way possible. In the same manner we are ready to take our own abilities and experiences to be seen elsewhere in Europe – also gaining new ideas and methods from there. The effect of the project on stakeholders:The greatest stakeholder in this project are the residents of the area for whom the project will give a new opportunity to get to know their neighbourhood. At the same time school work is opened to be part of the life in the area. Hopefully the common appreciation of the own living area will grow. The local historical association (Pateniemiseura) as well as the local museum will get help from us for their own work. The support given to the historical association is very concrete: pupils will be working on the webpages of the association, giving technical support in maintaining them. The association also holds its meetings at school premises. As for the museum, the project is a valuable way of working with school children. As a concrete benefit for the museum they will get help in recognizing things from the old pictures as well as more visibility for the pictures. Also the sawmill museum that is located close to the school will hopefully get more publicity and visitors. The benefits of the project:Our school will get to focus better its work on using technology, media education and activating pupils. When these things are focused on as parts of the school strategy it will also make us carry them out as well as evaluate them. This will be the most remarkab
