Partners for Inclusion was a training course for 22 youth workers from 8 countries (UK, Austria, Finland, Greece, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey). An additional 3 countries in the original project application (Bulgaria, Germany and Poland) were unable to send participants. The theme of the project was inclusion, and how international projects and exchanges can make a tangible impact on the lives of young people who suffer from social, physical, educational, cultural or other disadvantages. The project also promoted intercultural learning.
The motivation for this project was (a) the general policy priority for the EU and member states relating to building an inclusive society; (b) the general interest in this subject among organisations active in the international youth field, and their need for enhanced skills for inclusion work; (c) Momentum World's track record of projects and training on this theme.
The objective of the project was to promote social and educational inclusion in general, and access to international projects by young people with fewer opportunities in particular. The project has been promoted and learning disseminated online and through a variety of partner networks. Multiplier follow-up activities (presentations / workshops) in each country have ensured that learning could be shared as widely as possible among practitioners within our project partner organisations.
The project took place in Doncaster, UK, and lasted 8 days during July 2015. The training methods were non-formal, non-didactic and interactive. Activities included ice-breaking and team building activities, presentations by all partners, structured discussions around the project theme, visits to inspiring local inclusion projects or institutions, meetings with young people, an information session on Erasmus+, and intercultural evenings. There was an emphasis on the use of Youthpass as an inclusive tool for valorisation of learning, and sessions about this were part of each day's programme. The project ended with a planning and evaluation session.
The project has resulted in the development of a network of knowledgeable practitioners committed to inclusive working, capable of linking to SALTO Inclusion and expansion through further training and best practice sharing. It has had an impact on working practices in the partner organisations and more widely, which we believe will lead to increased opportunities for young people through international / Erasmus+ projects led by the participants on this course. There has been strong demand from almost all partners for further courses and projects of this kind.
Dissemination was an integral part of the project, and a number of materials were produced or obtained for this purpose. We have uploaded several of these to the "Valor" dissemination platform.
