The context : The Youth Parliament, which was created by the law on Youth from July 4, 2008, take place in the framework of the structured dialogue and has as main objective to give young people a voice and encourage their interest in politics. The project seeks to exploit the opinions, needs and demands of young people . The project will gather the views of young people in Luxembourg on predominant themes news and / or the future of young people and promotes dialogue between young people and political representatives . Origins : On 4 July 2008, the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg voted the establishment of the National Assembly of Youth: " There shall be established a National Youth Assembly whose mission is to give young people and their organizations the opportunity to participate in examining issues related to action and policy for youth at national and European level " (Youth Law of the 4h July 2008). So, the Youth Parliament is the direct implementation of the new youth law and implements the structured dialogue as an explicit instrument of consultation and participation of youth in Luxembourg. Objectives : Participation and engagement of young people do not go by themselves. This requires skills in a gradual process of learning. The main objective of the project is the active participation of young people in democratic processes at different levels in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This will be achieved through the plenary sessions and thematic working groups in which the permanent members of the Youth Parliament participate. This project, which is in fact an educational project, promotes the learning of living in a democracy, gives youngster an independent structure , gives them the opportunity to express their views vis-à-vis politicians, without obstacles and disadvantages and therefore promotes the first step of young people in the political world , which is often abstract and wide for them. The project creates a link between young people and politics while it transmits a positive image of youth. Through resolutions, claims and opinions, the project allows young people to show their actual needs to the politics at national and European level. Information sessions, chat rooms, customized training, but also the thematic working with experts and the annual summit meet the information needs of young people and enable them to develop and realize their political ideas, directly affecting their realities. Members of Parliament not only communicate their opinions to political representatives, but also to the general public and to young people in a regular and coordinated manner.
