Programme’s background: The school turns the experience of previous successful programmes that took place in Romania to advantage, with excellent results in the field of labour market for the graduates who were trained as well as the professional development of the participant teachers. The contact with the partners came to terms in October 2014 and the context of the training programme was imprinted in brief in the letters of intent. Plan’s/Project’s goals: Improvement of the school’s profile, getting away from the limited options of our island. Enrichment of the knowledge and skillfulness of the teachers and students of a Vocational Lyceum leading to flexible professional development.Improvement of professional qualifications and better absorption in the labour market.Ability to adapt in a new international working environment.Modification of the school’s programme with the addition of modern aspects of knowledge in fields related to the students’ studies.Recognition of professional qualifications with international certificates.Contact with the cultural assets of other countries. This programme will help people living in a remote island of the Aegean Sea get additional training and will also allow them to improve both their basic knowledge and skills, such as the use of a foreign language. Communication, adaptability, living and working experience with people of different nationalities and cultures are some of the advantages of getting involved in the programme. For the islanders of our country training is actually extremely limited. Most training programmes take place in the capital, thus isolating the people of the islands, since travelling for educational purposes is almost impossible, especially during the current recession.Number- Profile of the participants: A)There are eight teachers with the specialties of Civil and Mechanical Engineering teaching the theoretical and practical subjects in the Building Constructions sector as well as the subject of the materials’ durability. B)The training of twenty students from the Building Constructions sector.Description of the activities: The teachers will get acquainted with the teaching methodology of the laboratory subjects, participating in the procedure followed by their colleagues at the University. They will practice on the innovative designing software system of SAAP, a creation of the University’s professors, who will allot the system to our school for one use.The students will be trained in the laboratory on the durability of structural materials and their endurance in strain. The teachers will also visit other Technical Institutions of Secondary Education to meet colleagues and exchange ideas about the context of studies and the teaching methods. The students will meet other students of the same field and will communicate with each other. Furthermore, the teachers along with their students will take part in the designing and construction of a wooden, antiseismic house with a Wooden Building Company using the method of joining two pieces of wood put together in a notch (a power lathe in 4 shafts) and in repairing works of traditional stone buildings with the use of modern methods. All participants will visit historic Maramoures, where they can see the traditional wooden Churches, monuments of Unesco, and other buildings. There, they will participate in the construction of a wooden building, based on a design created by the University. The construction will be carried out by traditional craftsmen with the supervision of special Engineers from the University. There will also be lessons of Romanian language and acquaintance with the local customs.Methodology: Recording of the trainees’ needs, establishing of goals, exception of partners-communication, joint composition of the programme’s context, letters of intention, application, and after the approval, collaboration about the details of the programme, activities, monitoring/attendance, evaluation, publication.Expected results-impact: After their training, the students will have acquired extra qualifications in relation to other students in the labour market. The knowledge and skills they will acquire concerning the bioclimatic design of houses, the acceptance of using natural material, the possibility of constructing cheap, flexible, antiseismic buildings, in comparison with the heavy, costly buildings made of armed concrete and the methods of repairing traditional stone buildings will definitely establish them as the most flexible professionals in their working development. With all the newly-acquired knowledge and skills and the new methods and techniques on the laboratory subjects, the teachers will facilitate their work, they will be more productive and attractive in their teaching, resulting to the improvement of their students’ performance and their personal professional development and they will escape from isolation, collaborating in an international working environment.
