During the project youth workers from open youth work organisations in Germany and Romania will be trained during 4 workshops in two focusses.ContextIn Romania we can hardly find a tradition of open children’s and youth work. In Germany in contrary we have a long tradition and many approaches seem to be self-evident. These differences will be related one to the other, whereby the target is not a simple transfer of concepts to Romania but a complex intercultural process of learning, picking up the different personal and professional experiences as equal.Besides the training aspect the project is targetted to building up structures and the empowerment of competences of all partner organisation and to strengthen their competences to be active in national as well as in European Youth Policy contexts, where open youth work is not represented adequately.Targets and implementation1. Training of youth workers related to courses for volunteers in open youth work – developing modules of a curriculum, oriented on the portfolio of the Council of Europe for the training of youth workers.In a first week of workshop will be produced modules for the training of youth workers in open youth work. In a second week after one year these material will be reflected and evaluated. The modules can be used in summer camps, in group work situation in city quarters, for different target groups, also disadvantaged ones. On the base of practical experiences after using it these material can be reflected and developed.Furthermore conclusions for the organisational development of open youth work and strengthening the access into the European context will be results of the project.2. Training of youth workers related to pedagogical basics of open youth workIn two training workshops within 9 months youth workers are reflecting basic personal and pedagogical competence and attitudes. In depth empowerment approaches are the focus, strategies to strengthen young people. By this a central aspect is the reflection of the central values to be mediated to young people – also disadvantaged ones – in open youth work.Also in this context conclusions will be worked out for the structural youth policy level, the strengthening of organisational competence and the European cooperation as well as youth policy strategies for disadvantaged groups of young people.It is planned to qualify around 75 volunteer and professional youth workers form Germany and Romania.
