OVOTRAIN – On-line Virtual Vocational Training System

Ovotrain is a language competences project that is based on a former Leonardo da Vinci project “Metallurgical Expressions Translation System” (Metaltransys). This project generated the need to expand the already existing dictionary towards up-to-date vocational training methods. Ovotrain will focus on content and language integrated learning by creating a 7-language internet based expression dictionary system in metallurgy and mechanical engineering completed with virtual vocational training opportunities. Also virtual constructing of equipment, machines and production shops will be integrated in the dictionary. This online dictionary with virtual vocational training tools will give learners and students the opportunity to put their language skills to immediate use. Final goal is that Ovotrain will integrate widely and less widely used languages on the base of their interest in metallurgy and mechanical engineering. Specific results are interactive 3D scenarios of technical processes, machines and systems and their functionality. With the training scenario in an interactive 3D-model the user can get information about the functioning and test the handling of machines described in the dictionary. The target groups (potential users) and sectors that are focused by this project are both individuals and institutions: factories, secondary schools, language departments of universities, language teaching institutions, trade unions, in the metallurgical and mechanical engineering sector. The main activities of dissemination will consist of a website with database in 7 languages, conferences, demonstrations and a concentrated press campaign.
