The principal objective of this mobility proposal is the further qualification of our trainess through the consistent continuation of a strategy for internationalization at the Berufsschule II (vocational training school) in Rosenheim, Germany. It is our goal to continuously offer an increasing number of students in the departments of industry, banking and wholesale trade an opportunity to spend a part of their training abroad. Our partner, the ECBM London, offers a 3-week, intensive course at their college, at which our students may complete and earn the certificate of “international businessperson”. This certificate is awarded by the German-British Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK London), ensuring that the qualifications and skills gained while abroad will improve the student’s chances in the job market and that the experiences abroad will have a lasting effect. We are starting the first flow which, in comparison to previous years, has an expanded group of participants, as well as extending the stay from two to three weeks. The special group of students who are participating in the double certificate program (industrial clerk and secretary with foreign languages) will be complemented in the first flow by motivated students in the 11th grade, who are from the industrial department. A selection process should ensure that students with good grades and who are motivated and cosmopolitan will take part in the project. The selection of the students will be cunducted in cooperation with the companies involved with the help of a letter of motivation, the Europass Curriculum Vitae and the Europass Language Passport. In the following years, successive students and companies in the fields of banking and wholesale trading are to be approached in order to arouse the interest and readiness for completing a part of their internship abroad. These three commercial fields of interest offer a good curricular basis for interdisciplinary learning. Our English partner, the ECBM, is the training college for the German-British Chamber of Commerce. It was founded 22 years ago and is well established in the fields of basic and continuous training. The courses are tailored to our students. In Germany, the vocationally specific learning content is combined with English subject teaching and activity-oriented assignments and projects; traditional teaching forms are alternated with modern, activity-oriented forms. Additionally, factory tours are made to English subsidiaries of internationally operating companies, such as Siemens Crystal, BMW Oxford and FedEx. Excursions to the City of London enable the participants to gain a deeper insight into the British worlds of business and finance. Our prospective industrial clerks (with or without the additional qualification for foreign language secretary) train in international companies and should gain job-related experience abroad as soon as possible, in order to be effectively successful in the future labour market. Gaining insight into international business processes and using English as the language of business are elements that give these students a professional and personal advantage. Another goal of the project is advancement of intercultural competencies, e.g. • overcoming timidity to all that is foreign • immersion into London’s intercultural society • promoting tolerance and eliminating any possible prejudices
