PROJET
TERMINÉ
In light of the current refugee and migrant situation in Europe, the partners in this project wish to gain and share competence that will help us improve our capacities in youth work addressing specifically the need for increased organizational and individual competencies in building and managing programmes that will prevent recruitment of vulnerable groups, including refugees into radicalization and extremism.
The project includes a total of four partner organisations from Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom. Each partner organisation will be represented by 3-4 people respectively. All participating organisations produce programs that cater to youth at risk or youth representing a multicultural context. The individual professional profiles among the representatives from each organisation include unique competencies in defection from radical and extremist affiliations, de-radicalisation experts as well as many years’ experience working with youth in refugee camps and from the field in war zones.
There will be a total of three activities taking place in each of the countries represented in the project. Each of the activities include presentations and workshops related to partner specific competencies and methodologies in the field of working with at risk youth, youth from refugee camps or youth that have, have had extremist, radical or criminal affiliations.
The joint sharing and learning among the professional participants from each organisation will result in development of new modules for programs based on the mutually beneficial new competencies gained. There will be assessment of experiences learned in the United Kingdom for implementation in the Scandinavian context. Additionally the new competencies obtained will be tested on a specific group of youth from the network of the Swedish organisations participating in this project. This practical implementation of the capacities learned will be given to this group of youth by both professionals from each of the partners, as well as by youth leaders from Sweden and Norway. The long term benefits will be increased capacities among all participating organisations, its professionals and youth leaders. Through dissemination of the project outcomes, relevant authorities and institutions will be invited to learn from the results.
Activity one (A1) took place in London, and Bradford and was organized by STREET UK. The shared outcomes of A1 exceeded expectations by the Scandinavian partners due to a comprehensive line-up of activities and speakers that allowed all partners to quickly break ground and understand the collective possibilities of the consortium.
For activity two (A2) the Swedish organisations traveled to Drammen, Norway to examine the project deliverables from (A1) from a Nordic/Scandinavian perspective and how they may be implemented in the local context. Additionally the partners discussed at length how Drammen can learn from Malmö and vice versa, including developing modules and training for preventative work. The UK perspective is different from the Norwegian and Swedish, however deliverables from A2 further strengthened the consortiums’ mutual understanding on the shared values and how the project has formed an effective structure and disposition to in a coming KA2 innovative project for strategic partnerships build intellectual outputs.
For activity three (A3) a conference was organized at the applicant organization’s location in Malmö. The conference was a highlight amongst several activities taking place during A3. Among the topics shared at the conference were the collective results of A1 and A2 including presentations on suggested preventative practical actions on a European level, advocacy for good governance against radical extremist affiliations.
