Re-Battery is a National Accumulator Alternative Management System; a non-profit organization established by the National Organization Recycling (EOAN), member of the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association (ΕΕΔΣΑ) and voted Green Spin-off Company in the Environmental Awards 2014. The range of the system is nationwide, with an obligation to provide automotive and industrial accumulator waste management services. The proposed mobility project is an initiative towards the consolidation of an organized and effective management cycle, and aspires to achieve multi-level objectives such as:
1) Strengthening collective mentality and cooperative structure
2) Upgrading organizational planning and innovation incorporation
3) Enrichment of scientific and technical basis
4) Know-how and skills integration with the domestic production
5) Integrated planning for environmental awareness
Participants were selected on criteria that favor homogeneity, but also a diversity that will facilitate an objective examination of the educational content and contribute its efficiency. Based on this intention in mind, the final beneficiaries:
- Were executive, administrative and technical managers
- Had the jurisdiction and competence pass knowledge into production
- Had limited individual access to know-how transfer channels
- Will use the time spent abroad for personal and professional development
- Perceive the intercultural nature of this project.
The program was implemented in Italy, in 2 fortnightly flows of 29 trainees each, featuringvarious educational activities with the participation of key national and private bodies in the environment and recycling sector, including the Ministry of Environment (Ministero dell Ambiente), the National Coordinating Centre for Batteries and Accumulators (CDCNPA) and the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA). The training content comprised of a series of seminars and presentations, as well as technical inspections and facility tours, organized in collaboration with major consortia and management systems, corporations that contribute to all stages of the management cycle, and supporting organizations.
Through implementation of the program’s activities, participants were able to reach useful conclusions, proceed with revisions and assimilate positive elements and attributes that will form components of new personal, professional and business skills development, regarding:
a) Effective cycle coordination and registration
b) Research for best international practices and adoption of new administrative standards
c) Research for new scientific methodologies towards an efficient production cycle
d) Raising environmental awareness in the cycle
e) Ensuring collective spirit and collaborative mentality
f) Undertaking drastic initiatives towards raising citizens’ environmental awareness
g) Developing the sense of a European identity
This was the first European mobility action organized by Re-Battery and was one of the organization’s most important and ambitious initiatives. Contacting counterpart organizations in the hosting country will significantly enhance extroversion and create conditions for developing essential international co-operations for technology transfer and experience exchange. Achieving such a goal, is intertwined and based on upgrading the administrative and technical basis, on which all the functions and processes of the cycle take place. Recognition and certification of the results assists participants in realizing their equal status and possibility of decisive contribution to a unified European labor market.
Implementing such targeted actions, promotes the establishment of a solid regional strategy regarding environmental protection, which canbe quickly and effectively applied through dynamic initiatives. Such interventions consolidate and regulate environmental awareness, as part of an obligation of all citizens towards nature and society. To provide such interventions with initiatives and policies design and implemented in European or even international level, would be a sufficient condition for building up a comprehensive and effective response to the environmental protection issue.
