The overall objective is to improve overall awareness and knowledge on EU related issues among students and general public in the Republic of Karelia.Specific Objectives:- to upgrade skills and knowledge of lecturers;- to improve teaching methods and quality of education on the European Union;- to improve knowledge of students and general public on EU related matters;- to stimulate adoption of the European education experience and practices;- to improve compatibility of Russian and European educational programmes- to stimulate language practice of Karelian lecturers, students and general publicThe project presupposes the following steps:1. Preparation of a thorough interdisciplinary module on the European integration in English that will include 6 sub-modules: 1) History of European integration, 2) European law, 3) Middle East Policy of the European Union, 4) The EU energy Policy, 5) Cross-border cooperation as a factor of EU economic development and 6) Internal policy of European Union: difficulties and ways of their overcoming.2. Implementation: Delivering of these sub-modules to the public within three yearsThe concept is to use the best European practices of teaching and learning as well as modern technologies. Lecturers will use new methodologies and tools as well as will try to involve audience more in learning process through organization of various forms of debates. After completion of every sub-module participants will be provided with certificates with ECTS indication. 3. Evaluation (collection of evaluation forms)4. Dissemination of knowledge and resultsIt is planned that within the framework of the project these six sub-modules will be presented to the audience one after another during three years. The target group includes, first of all, students of relevant faculty – Institute of history, political and social sciences, but it will be open for all interested people.
