This project is set up for the students of the 6de grade of "Secretary and Languages", for the 7e grade of Hair Dressing and for the 7the grade of Beauty Care. The students of Secretary and Languages will go to France for 2 weeks. The other students will go to Madeira/Portugal for 3 weeks. For each group of students we send away, we propose 2 flows. One for the school year 2014-2015 and one for the next school year: 2015-2016. This project would be a component of our educational project "across borders". We want to give our students the opportunity to practice their professional skills and we hope to bring Europe closer at our school and the pupils and hope to increase the European identity . In addition, we want to spread a part of our Flemish culture to our partners in Madeira. An important aspect to the project is the fact that our students can practice their language-, and professional skills. This way the project contributes also to the increasing of the feeling of independence and self-confidence among the learners. The students of Secretary and Languages will have a traineeship on the secretariat of various companies and agencies. They will perform all sorts of tasks related to the job. Those jobs can be: reception, administrative or commercial services of both private companies, public services or administration. The current internationalization requires that the students are more and more bilingual (or multi lingual) , especially in the Belgian context where the knowledge of the second national language is a must. During the traineeship the students need to speak the French language all the time, this directly linked to the secretarial practice. A traneeship in a French context is the ideal way to respond on the increasing demand for management assistants who can communicate fluently in French. The students of the 7e grade of Hair Dressing will be a trainee in a hairdressing salon. They will do all the tasks which are needed to work in a salon: receiving clients, doing the hair of the clients, doing the stock and placing the new products on the right place. Also selling is an important part in the salon and also this skill we expect our students to do. The salons are selected during a previous project. The salons are often small salons but quit busy salons so the students will have enough opportunities to learn. The students of the Beauty Care department will be a trainee in the beautiful Spa's on Madeira. They will do all the tasks a beauty Therapist need to do in a Spa and they learn to work together in a multidisciplinary team. Disciplines like sales, stock control, making appointments and planning the work will be be their tasks. In addition to the internship the school will also cooperate with the school DRQP. We will work together with this school during 3 days for the department of Hairdressing and 1 day for the students of Beauty Care. During those days we shall introduce ourselves, explain where Belgium and Flanders are situated and how our school sytem works. We will also exchange techniques. During the weekends the students will do some cultural activities and explore the island. We try to make 1 visit to a company and the students will be able to visit each other's working place. After the project we would like to inform as many people as possible about our project. We will organize a day for the parents, the family, the other teachers from our school and other schools, the mentors from the working places here in Flanders, people of the professional associations, ... The students will explain all the aspects of the project to the people who are invited. Further we will write an article for the newspaper, for the school paper and we will make sure everyone can read about the project through a link on our website. We would like to be a school where students come because of the international experience we give them. We want to keep on working on European projects because we are convinced of the great value it gives to the students, the school and all his employees. It broadens horizons, brings people within Europe closer together and creates for the participants opportunities for the further career or studies.
